My DS (nearly 13 weeks) has his today. A bit late but my gran who lives a long way away had a stroke and I had to (wanted to) go and help my mum look after her so had to reschedule DSs vaccinations.

I've been told by a couple of people, including a medical professional, that because DS is a bit older and more alert/aware, he might find the jabs more distressing than usual.

I'm not TOO worried but am just slightly anxious that it's going to stress him out. All normal but wondered if anyone had any tips for distraction, and would share what they did re pain relief?

How did your baby cope after?

I've been told by one nurse to give calpol before, and by another to give calpol after....

I'm confused!

My wee one squealed in the drs surgery but was fine as soon as we got in the car. Gave calpol when we got home and dd went for a sleep . That was it no problems

That sounds ridiculous to me. They have vaccinations at 12 and 16 weeks and 1 year. They're not fun but just need to be done. Give Calpol afterwards and lots of cuddles on the sofa afterwards.
