First off this isn't a mil bashing thread, just wanted to know if others have this whether I am being unreasonable or if this would slightly annoy you too, mil will phone dp pretty much as soon as he walks through the door after work every evening, sometimes before his walked through the door to see our little one xx

It’s a phone. He doesn’t have to answer it

NameChangeNugget · 17/01/2019 20:17

Your partner is the problem, not your MIL.

redspikes · 17/01/2019 20:21

Wasn't meant to be advise on dp being a problem just wondered if it was normal or not, he doesn't answer it all the time xx

Does she know? Has he told her that at that time he’s just getting in and to ring at other times?

PisforPROBLEM · 17/01/2019 20:24

It is excessive. There is no need to phone every single day like that and yes the timing of it would annoy me. I guess it's up to your dp whether he answers it, but I would find it intrusive.

PremierNaps · 17/01/2019 20:25

It's normal in our house. Not as soon as he walks through the door but will ring every night to speak to the DC

Sirzy · 17/01/2019 20:25

So she phones to see if it’s ok to come around? Why is that a problem?

You either answer “yes see you soon” “can you leave it an hour?” Or “tonight isn’t any good but we will see you soon”

redspikes · 17/01/2019 22:24

She doesn't call to see if she can come round!! Just calls I think it's nice but feel as soon as he walks through the door is abit annoying xx

I had a similar issue. I'm NC with MIL but DH is not. She started to call every night as soon as I put dinner on the table. DH would answer, tell her his dinner was served and she'd day on anyway. I seethed for weeks left it but said nothing. One night the phone rang and our adult dd was home (she's had the measure of Mil for years), she said something like "goodness it's like she times it to be awkward " and a miracle occurred....dh ignored the phone.

Obviously I had a dh problem and he now makes it clear he'll call her when he gets the chance. It does seem pretty but it's never a quick 'how are you' is half an hour of nothing really.

BackforGood · 17/01/2019 22:36

Well, I'm not sure why you are BU or not Confused

It doesn't really affect you.
If I were your dh - I would have spoken to her a long time ago (whenever she started ringing each day). However, it is between him and her really. As others have said, he doesn't have to answer, and if he doesn't want her ringing every day - or every day at that time - then he can tell her that.

Maelstrop · 17/01/2019 22:38

Definitely a dh problem. So he’s ignoring you and your dc in favour of talking to his dm instead? He’d get told by me, I’d find that super rude.
