HELP!!

Posting here for more traffic as urgently need to get this done this week if possible and not getting anything on the DIY post...
We have stupidly just brought an unpreserved shed not realising how difficult it's said to be to try and treat and paint a shed in temperatures below 10 degrees.
Does anyone know of any preservatives for sheds which we could used in this cold weather?
And if so Does the shed have to be completely dry before painting preservative on?
TIA

Bumping for you. Ask in a Canadian forum? I suspect it'll be water that's the issue more than the cold.

Firstly - Do you have a good roof felt on it? You can nail that on easily to provide key protection; maybe add some wood coming off it so you can have excess as a kind of awning to protect the sides of the shed.
Secondly - how wet has it got? Is it dry on a sunny cold day? Is any water pooling around it that you can divert? I'd be thinking of oiling it for protection, but it depends on your long term plan for it.

I have some shed paint right here which says it's fine to paint, down to 5degrees. I'm doing mine in a couple of weeks.

As pp says, your biggest problem is rain and damp air (stopping it drying as fast as it could). I think it'll be ok to paint unless absolutely soaked through, as any moisture can (a) permeate through the paint and (b) out the other side, so the key is more good ventilation for the panels than being bone-dry.

Thank you all for your bumps and replies. @CallMeSirShotsFired do you mind me asking which paint you are using? I might try buying some of that instead. We haven't put the shed together yet so might put it in the garage to paint it to keep it dry. Not sure how realistic that is, can but try.

Look for Poly Ethylene Glycol - PEG - it's a compound you paint on that removes water and replaces it with a plasticky substance. Was used in the Mary Rose Conservation project and by archaeologists on wood based artefacts.

Thank you @CallMeSirShotsFired and @mrswarthog really helpful. I'm going to go and buy your one tomorrow @CallMeSirShotsFired Grin

Quick tip: Screwfix had it at £9.99 special offer. It’s only in click and collect; and only some stores - but 50% off is not to be sniffed at!

Oh great! Thanks @CallMeSirShotsFired I will have a look now!!
Thank you for all your help!
