To thing my coil is making me fat(ter)

I’m not hugely overweight but could do with losing a stone or two to be comfortable.
I had it inserted about 6 months ago. I think time, I’ve tried repeated to lose weight with no success. I’ve only put on a couple of lbs but I’m now a bloated, wobbly mess where I used to be firmer.
Is it just age (38) or has anyone else had a similar problem?

You could try the depo jab?

Pinkblanket · 17/01/2019 19:04

I've had one for over six years (well two, have had the first replaced). It's made no difference to my weight.

It’s the bloating as well. It’s just miserable.
It’s so annoying because it’s brilliant on all other counts (for me anyway!).
Maybe I’ll have a go at the copper coil.

My weight didn't go up with Mirena but my appetite did and when I realised this I learnt to rein myself in

Ifangyow · 17/01/2019 19:51

My appetite hasn't gone up...unlike my stomach.
I've just asked my husband if he thinks I'm fat. He looked like a frightened rabbit caught in headlights and stuttered something about putting a bit of weight on, but er, er, not fat, don't be ridiculous.
Well, that's put paid to his idea of an early night. 😂

And now I'm getting a bloody slimming drink advert!

Ifangyow i love to drop that question in every so often. Keeps them on their toes! 🤣

I'm really having a miserable time with my second Mirena :-( my breasts are so sore and lumpy all the time:-( I hate it but I'm not having bleeding so I feel I should keep going with it :-(

Ifangyow · 17/01/2019 20:42

How long have you had it in? Your breasts will hopefully settle if you haven't had it in for long missdread

@DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops I know it's a few years later, but how did you manage with having it taken out. Did you loose the weight? I've gained 2st in less than a year from having the copper coil fitted, yet apparently it's not the coil 🙄
