Baby in front passenger seat?

My 3 month old usually sits in the rear with car seat on isofix base. We regularly do long journeys and if his dummy falls out the front passenger reaches over and pop it back in (he usually will scream if we don't).

However, I soon need to do this long journey by myself with no other passenger other than DS. Would you put him in front beside you (obviously airbag off but no isofix so car seat fixed with seatbelt), or leave him in the usual backseat? He is most likely to scream when stopped at lights or in traffic so if he is next to me I'm thinking it would be possible to pop his dummy in, and he will be able to hear radio better (which also soothes him).

Journey is 6 hours plus rest breaks.

A friend of mine has had her baby in the front seat from day one as her car is 3 door and the car seat literally wouldn't fit into the back. She has the airbags off and the seat is pushed right back.

No, I’d attach his dummy to a piece of elastic and sew it quickly to the top he will wearing that day. Then he’ll be able to reach it himself.

I’d move his seat across so he can see you though.

I like that idea @Seniorschoolmum , though I don't think he'd be able to reattach himself just yet. Good for future trips though!

I'd put him in the front: a screaming baby is utter hell and so distracting when driving.

I'd go with in the front too. I did with mine on occasion. For me it was si dangerous being distracted by a screaming baby in the back - especially on a motorway where I couldn't stop.

Mines in the front as I have 3 children and the other two are in huge isofix things so no choice really!
