To think the school are really daft to book swimming lessons...

At the very end of the school day meaning the kids get back 30 minutes AFTER school ends. Every week.

Meaning that now, as I don't drive, I have to stand in the playground for at least 30 mins with DD waiting for DS class to return.

It's January, freezing. They don't have anywhere parents can wait indoors.

First week they were 10 mins late back.

DD is tired and cold and wants to go home.

It's ok for drivers who can sit in the car with radio on or even go home for 25 mins if close enough.

But AIBU for thinking it's just daft??

I'm guessing that was the swimming slot available to the school unfortunately.

D'S school go before school as that's the slot they were given - they have to be in 20 mins early one day a week which means parents have to hang around outside with siblings.

I would ask if you can wait in Reception if the cold causes you problems.

I frequently have to wait around for 30 mins with two of mine while the other one does an after school club. They actually love it tbh, the older one kicks a ball around, the younger one plays on the climbing frame or runs around the playground. I’m sure school would let us sit in reception if I asked, but the kids would certainly not want to. Unless it gets really cold, we just make the most of the time.

I agree that sounds crap. I think the first step to address it would be a polite letter to the head about what arrangements can be made.
