Aibu to take this iPhone deal?

Just after your advice Smile I have had the same phone for 3 years (iPhone 6s) and want to upgrade. I was going to buy an iPhone XS outright but first decided to ask my network provider what they could offer me:

iPhone XS 64gb
£0 upfront cost, 24 month contract at £55 per month
Unlimited calls/texts
100gb data
24 months Spotify premium (they have other options like amazon prime video)
Other Vodafone benefits like global roaming etc

My issues are that the monthly cost is higher than I wanted (I’m happy to pay upfront costs) and that I don’t need 100gb data (use about 20gb) but apparently they won’t discount this device on lower data tariffs. I have looked online and with this device, there isn’t really anything better online. Also, if I bought it outright I wouldn’t get a plan on the same calibre, as Spotify alone costs me £10 per month.

what are your thoughts?

I made the jump from iPhone a couple of months ago and it's amazing how much more you can get for your money.

They really aren't the best anymore and most of the pricing is paying for the brand.

I bought the Huawei Honor 9 lite out right for £165 and switched to sim only for 4gb data and unlimited texts and calls with 3 which costs £9. My husband has switched to the Huawei Honor 8X and we've both been shocked at just how much better the quality of the product is for the pricing.

I've been looking to replace my iPhone 5 (I bought it from the Apple shop in 2012 and it still works perfectly). I thought I could justify getting the new iPhone due to previous frugality but I just can't!

I would buy an 'as new' iPhone 8 Plus on eBay for £450 and get a SIM only plan.

Watch your upgrade with Vodafone when it comes to spotify - I already had a spotify account but it didn't connect properly with the Vodafone offer so took a couple of months of being charged £9.99 before it was credited back onto my account.

Vodafone can offer 30% discount on the tarriffs shown online - as long as you are happy with the deal you've got go for it.

I got 50gb with my upgrade - usually only use 2 or so but the 50 was handy when my wifi wasn't working for a few days last month, my phone became a hotspot for every device in my house!

I'm having conniptions at shelling out £700 for a new laptop for ds, let alone a grand on a phone! Is it gold plated and diamond encrusted?

Thanks so much for all your opinions! Really helped me to make a decision.

I am definitely turning the offer down because you’re right, £55 for a phone per month is a bit absurd and it just doesn’t feel right for me. It’s not awful but it’s just not really what I want.

Glad I posted as I was quite close to taking it!
