A thread of support for Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe as she begins her hunger strike

Shamelessly posting here for traffic.

Nazanin has been imprisoned in an Iranian jail for almost 3 years on trumped up spying charges. Separated from her young daughter and husband, she is starting a 3 day hunger strike to protest her horrendous treatment and being denied specialist investigations for breast lumps and numbness in her arms.

I can't imagine how it must feel to be taken away from my baby and only allowed to see her on restricted visits.

Standing with Nazanin, her husband Richard and daughter Gabriella.

Yes, I wrote permitted instead of committed.

You actually think its equivalent? O-kay.

JaneHare · 14/01/2019 12:56

@MNHQ - These deletions just make the thread look ridiculous. Please just delete the whole thing.

Let us hope she will be back home soon. They are breaking their own laws imprisoning her for so long.

SouthWestmom · 14/01/2019 13:14

Op, any thread can go like this. People ask questions and it's given me a chance to share information for them to get answers. Bit premature to be hoping to get someone to tweet the family without seeing how the thread went.

Hence I wasn't going to get it tweeted until people had supported the family on the thread. Instead it got derailed. Which is a shame.

Sorry op.

WineCheeseSleep · 14/01/2019 13:30

It's such an awful situation. I emailed Boris Johnson and then Jeremy Hunt about it but that's not that helpful really, I just wanted to add to the noise about it. What more can we do, does anyone know?

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 14/01/2019 14:02

Jeremy Hunt has stepped it up a fraction today, talking to the Iranian Ambassador & meeting Richard Ratcliffe.

I tried to telephone the Iranian Embassy about this. I was not able to get through.
I wanted to tell them that Nazarine Ratcliffe, even if she is guilty, should have access to a doctor so that the lumps in her breast can be treated if necessary.

WineCheeseSleep · 14/01/2019 19:10

Thanks @Noeuf I've signed the petitions and contributed to the Change.org one. I'm sure I've signed a load before but worth a try.

SouthWestmom · 14/01/2019 19:12

You're welcome.

There were actually three links but they clumped together. One was the freenazarin website

SouthWestmom · 14/01/2019 19:12

Actually maybe emailing our MP s would be a good call

EatCrisps · 14/01/2019 20:29

I became aware of her plight from the Guilty Feminist. Sending wishes & prayers to them. I vaunt imagine being imprisoned & away from my DC & DH Thanks

JohnMcCainsDeathStare · 14/01/2019 21:41

Perhaps we should email our MPs en masse - important to let them know this hasn't fallen off the radar.

SouthWestmom · 14/01/2019 21:43

Yes I think we should . Collective action is often noticed.

Exexexcel · 14/01/2019 21:52

Thank you for the links, I have signed. A dreadful situation.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 14/01/2019 21:54

Flowers Nazanin.

I'll contact my MP too.

SouthWestmom · 14/01/2019 22:00

freenazanin.com/

The one that got mixed in

meow1989 · 14/01/2019 22:02

Signed both petitions, such an awful situation.

bellabasset · 14/01/2019 22:03

This week there has been footage of Nazanin being detained, and these were taken just after her dd was taken from her. She looks terrified and it moved me to tears. Her husband hasn't been able to watch it. Richard hasn't seen her or their dd since March 2016. Their dd's passport was initially confiscated but has been returned. However she is staying in Iran with Nazanin's parents so she is able to have contact with her mother.

Nazanin has been put in isolation at times, can only see her dd intermittently. She needs medical care. Read the Amnesty reports. I check what is happening everyday as do many others.

Have compassion for Nazanin and her family. When you have a glass of wine with your husband, go and kiss your children goodnight or read them a bedtime story think of Nazanin and thank God for the good things in your life

MoonriseKingdom · 14/01/2019 22:15

I hope that she receives the medical treatment that she needs as should happen for any prisoner.
Wishing for her release and for a family to be reunited.

Flowers for her and her family.

BedraggledBlitz · 14/01/2019 22:15

I often think of Nazanin and look forward to her coming home with her family.

SouthWestmom · 14/01/2019 22:32

The redress link I added has a really good outline of everything about this

bilbodog · 16/03/2022 10:34
