I work in a school and I struggled through last week with a really nasty chesty cough/cold. I thought I’d feel better after a weekend of early nights and lie-ins but I can’t sleep well due to my cough. I’m knackered. I have a full day of teaching tomorrow so need to spend the evening working and I just haven’t got the energy. If I don’t work tonight, I can’t go in tomorrow as I won’t have the resources ready. I am normally much more organised but as I was feeling so unwell last week I just haven’t been on top of things as much as normal.

This will be my second day off since September. My yearly average for sickness is

You're clearly not well enough to be at work, call in sick and be kind to your self.

Just ring in sick.

There are no prizes for going to work when you are really ill. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

For most jobs I would say go in see how you feel etc, but for some, including teaching it's a definite stay at home. If you go in you know you'll work straight through with minimal lunch (if any), no time to rest if you feel crap. Kids taking advantage because they can see you're unwell and you'll be stressed about the resources you haven't prepared.

There's a teacher retention crisis as it is, please don't try and battle on when you feel this unwell, trust me no one will than you for it They'll just moan when Wednesday rolls around and you finally admit defeat and take the day off. Sad

Stay at home x

Call in sick. Hope you feel better soon.

If you're ill, you're ill and need to call in sick. The world will still turn, pupils will still get taught that day, no serious harm will occur, and you'll have a day to rest and plan following day of teaching. Be kind to yourself.

Also if you're tired and unwell, pp is right, you might be in a foul mood. Or just exhausted and not be your best teacher self. I'd avoid setting yourself up for a bad day.

Another vote for staying at home. You have to be totally on it to be teach and if you're not it will make you feel 10 times worse.

Get well soon xx

Stay home, look after yourself, get better! Thanks
