DP is early 30s not a significant birthday but we've got the first nice meal/night out planned just me and him sans young DCs in over a year.

We've had a though time and managed to achieve a lot this past year and I'd like to get him something nice but I can't think of anything.
Budget is about £50

He loves football and is up to date with what goes on, also plays indoor, has to wear a suit to work etc but shirts and sports accessories are out as he's recently had to kit out for a tournament and a big work event so he's got a lot of it.

What can I get him that's not just something that will end up at the back of a cupboard/put aside somewhere ?

I dont know if they do this for others plays (I image they do!) But I got DH a picture which showed all the different goals by Alan Shearer over the years. I cant attach a pic for some reason but it was a line drawing which had the outline of a goal and lines going in at different angles which represented his goals. If you don't know what it is, it still looks quite nice! It's a great point of conversation when people come round. Perhaps something like that?

It's probably going to be another while before we manage a child free evening/day again so don't want to get an experience in case we can't arrange it.

Not into alcohol we still have bottles and bottles from Christmas.

Pen might be a nice idea ...

Does he wear cufflinks? These are usually a good standby gift if so, as you can spend aa much or as little as you like, and they're always useful to the recipient (if they wear them)

Not on the High Street have some that you can personalise in a variety of ways (maps, dates, co-ordinate, names etc) at under £50

Otherwise - first edition of his favourite book? (As long as it's not Harry Potter Grin)
