AIBU to consider a cot toy?

11mo DS has always had an empty cot, apart from a secured mobile he couldn't reach until recently (we have since lowered the cot base for safety), and sleeps in a sleeping bag. As he's getting older, more curious and interested in playing with toys, are there any cot toys that are safe to secure to the cot that would keep him entertained upon waking/when I need a shower/etc? I know there are lots available, but is it wise to have anything in the cot at any age? He can pull himself up from sitting but is not walking yet.

What about a Lamaze toy attached to the side? As long as there is a gap slightly larger than the baby's head between it and the mattress, it shouldn't be a suffocation risk.

I'm sure at around this age we started to put a musical bear in the cot (the Chicco one). He learned to press the button and the lullabies send him to sleep. I did watch the monitor like a hawk for a while but he never moved the bear to pull over him or sleep on it.
Not sure what the evidence is for things in the cot after 1y. Some of my friends gave their baby a quilt and pillow at 1 😱

I put toys in from about that age. Now he has a full complement of teddies and a duvet and quilt. It's difficult to get bigger sleeping bags!

I wouldn't leave anything in cot overnight or during naps, I'd worry too much about suffocation and any music toy would be heard/irritating anyway so I might as well get up! If need to leave my similar aged LO for a shower or anything I just pop a couple of small normal toys in with him for a short period.

Thanks, all. Still unsure, ha! I think I would want something he could amuse himself with when he wakes up, to give me a little more time to get myself sorted. Or to have a quick play then fall back asleep. Hmm.
