Lloyds bank have told me they charge £30 if I want to move more than £50k to another banks savings account. This is outrageous. £30 to move my own money.

kethy My apologies for my bad maths Blush

It’s still less than 0.1% though which I still think is a nominal fee!

dementedpixie · 12/01/2019 18:28

It's 0.06%

Princessmushroom · 12/01/2019 18:31

Do people paying their house deposits complain about the £30 CHAPS fee too?

Aridane · 12/01/2019 18:34

I'm with you, OP, but you have committed the cardinal sin of displaying wealth on Mumsnet.

FWIW Santander male no charge for a transfer of £75,000!

Aridane · 12/01/2019 18:35

(make no charge)

WonderWoman2019 · 12/01/2019 18:37

Faster limit is actually 100k but some banks impose lower limits (some differentiate by client category too). Barclays does 50k transfers to a third party with no branch visit required.

Sounds like it's a good thing you're swapping bank, OP!

PerfectlyPetty · 12/01/2019 18:37

I can do £25k online. I can do more by going into the branch

So do £25k online every day until you've transferred how much you need.

Surely you can't be that desperate to get it right away?

DontTouchTheMoustache · 12/01/2019 18:40

I'm in thousands of pounds of debt so yeah i am struggling to share your outrage tbh. Suck it up.

Fowles94 · 12/01/2019 18:42

We earn about 7k less than you and would happily pay 30 quid for 50k.

brownjumper · 12/01/2019 18:43

3 miles or £30. Give your head a wobble and realise what tragedies and trauma other people are going through and appreciate how lucky you are. It's hardly a bother . Hmm

PerfectlyPetty · 12/01/2019 18:45

Complaining about paying £30 to transfer £50k is petty and stupid imo. What a lot of time and energy over bugger all.

It's 0.06%.

To put it into perspective, it's roughly equivalent to going and spending £110 in shopping at Tesco and complaining about the 5p charge for the bag.

Having worked in a high st bank, I can confirm that yes, they do.

SnaccidentsHappen · 12/01/2019 18:49

Princessmushroom, yes they do complain, trust me Wink

PerfectlyPetty · 12/01/2019 18:53

yes they do complain, trust me

Oh yes...and some want hundreds in compensation for a ten minute (essential) drive to the branch. Or £150 compensation because they were kept waiting for ten minutes and their hourly rate is £400 as a Very Important Person.

Some people are crazy.

bridgetreilly · 12/01/2019 18:53

Banks charge for stuff. I don't think that is either surprising or outrageous.

jelliebelly · 12/01/2019 19:07

Hardly surprising that banks charge you to send money to another bank! Banks are having to employ so many staff to deal with financial crime risk these days that I'm surprised it was only £30!

Kethy · 13/01/2019 20:28

But you'd need more than one bag for £110 worth of shopping

Cheekyblinders · 13/01/2019 20:46

Wow you’re lucky OP only 3miles to a branch... pretty sure my nearest is now more like 20 as they have shut the nearest 4 in the last 5 years... never go to one now, online, telephone and the post office for cheques are the ways I bank🙄
