Anyone with 2-3 year old toddlers - what activities do you do?!

Posting here for traffic! Sorry everyone. My toddler gets bored so, so easily! At the moment we explore books and learn words and pictures but I want him to explore his creativity and imagination. I am thinking so far:

Arts and crafts
Pebble picking
Playing with tough
Sticking things on paper
Baking
Large puzzles
Connect colour game

What else?! So he can explore and stay entertained but learn at the same time. Ideas very much appreciated! Thanks all.

All those look great to me! My child is 4 now but at that age he also loved;

  • building blocks (big safe ones - not swallowing size)
  • anything of any (safe) size with wheels
  • water play (with me right there at all times of course!)
  • very hard, tough books for that age (so they don’t get destroyed)
  • being outside in nature, showing him leaves and feathers (etc)

The public libraries where I am have “toddler sessions” you can take them to... is that an option for you ? Smile

Mine has a trike and loves going around on it. I go to a big park with lots of paths across a field as it's away from cars, wrap us all up in warm clothes and let the dc peddle away Smile

I have seen articles online about making "busy bags". These are bags filled with simple activities for toddlers - for example, you might have a set of coloured craft sticks and matching small coloured bags, the child has to match the sticks to the appropriate bag. They can be great for times when toddlers have to wait.

Toddlers like toys they can use on their own to create a sense of independence. Stacking and nesting toys, push/pull toys, and riding toys are often popular.

I don't know if you're on Instagram but there's a lady called fiveminutemum who used to be a TA and she's got loads of great ideas for things to with toddlers that are educational too. The idea is they take 5 mins of your time and then they can play by themselves.

The 2-3 yr olds in my life enjoy gross motor skill activities such as swimming, trampoline, bikes, running....
Not too keen on fine skills yet but sticks in sand and wands of all sorts.

My son is 3.5 and at that age loved books, baking, puzzles, sticker/activity books, building things with blocks, Brio, and anything with balloons and bubbles, going to the local playground, activity farms, child-friendly museums with lots of interactive exhibits. We also had magnetic letters and numbers for the fridge, foam letters for the bath, and bath crayons for him to draw with.

He still enjoys most of this and now also likes singing songs together, science experiments (mixing things and watching them bubble/change colour etc) and Magformers (magnetic shapes that you can stick together to build things.

From about the age of 2, I'd give my DD a baby wipe and they would happily "clean the sofa" or "wipe the table" or "clean the cupboard doors."
Playdoh is popular in my house.
Reading all the books.
Sticklebricks, megablocks, duplo
Train sets
Those threading sets kept mine occupied for ages.
Happyland / playmobile
