Should it hurt this much

Went to the walk in on Sunday with what was diagnosed as sciatica. Last night the painful wees and horrendous pain started and I've just been diagnosed with a water infection following a urine dip. Oh my god it's agony, does it normally hurt this much?

I get sciatica and some days I struggle to walk.i find cocodamol and hot water bottle helps. Hot bath too. Try to keep moving as staying still can make it worse

I've had two slipped discs and numerous UTIs, I'd rather have a slipped disc any day! UTIs are absolute hell Flowers

I've had both but never at the same time.
You poor thing Thanks.

Most urine infections tend for me to be very uncomfortable but not completely agony....and then once I ended up with one so bad I was in A&E-couldn't pass anything (and then when I did manage a tiny bit it was just blood!) and unbelievable pain.

My sciatica was relatively mild in the grand scheme of things. But I have family members who have been completely debilitated by them.

The only positive thing I can give you is they do get better with time. Rest up and look after yourself ❤️

Possibly kidneys?

Imsosorryalan1 · 10/01/2019 19:09

Sorry, I wasn't clear...I don't have sciatica, she didn't do a urine dip last time and just said it's sciatica. Nurse today was fuming that she didn't do a sample as I could have been treated earlier. Following the dip today she said there was blood in my urine and hopefully it's just a water infection and not kidney stones.

But sciatica and kidney infections don’t even present the same at all? Did you tell her it was your kidneys?

Imsosorryalan1 · 10/01/2019 19:32

I didn't because I didn't have the pain on urinating on Sunday and I've never had a water infection before. I just had lower back on Sunday but the nurse tonight said a urine dip should have been done to rule out an infection regardless of what she thought it was

If there was only blood in your urine and no nitrates then you likely have kidney stones rather than infection which will explain the horrendous pain. What painkillers are you taking?
