To be so worried?

FTM, 22+5, anterior placenta.

I would say the last week or so I really started to feel baby move and the kicks were quite strong, so much so that DP could feel from the outside.

I was surprised because I was told at 20 week scan that it would be probably be much later on that I would feel them.

But the past 2 days I've felt nothing at all and it's really making me worried Sad

I have no pregnancy symptoms, these subsided at about 16 weeks. I've just had the most awful back pain.

AIBU to be so worried? I haven't thought about calling maternity as I've heard it's only really from 28 weeks onwards that they get concerned about reduced movements.

I just have no idea what to do.

You might be able to pop along and have a midwife listen for babies heartbeat but tbh at that stage baby has most likely just changed position.

Houseonahill · 10/01/2019 17:17

I would definitely call them at least you can put your mind at rest. They would rather speak to you everyday than you not go in when your worried Flowers

moanymoaner · 10/01/2019 17:19

Go and get checked , baby may have just moved to a different position meaning you can't feel as much especially with having an anterior placenta .

clouise2018 · 10/01/2019 17:19

Thank you for your replies.

I may give them a call then. Just last time I rang (when I had a slight bleed) before Christmas they were so unhelpful and not interested at all in reassuring me so it's just really put me off

Do you have your own midwifes mobile number? You can always give her a call or text and she might see you if hospital are unhelpful.

clouise2018 · 10/01/2019 17:22

@Thesearmsofmine yes I do, in my notes.

I've never texted or called her before but maybe I should do that rather than ringing triage?

I'm due to see her actually next Wednesday

Call and go in better to be safe x

HoobleDooble · 10/01/2019 17:23

Try not to worry, the baby's probably just moved and is still tiny enough to have plenty of room to move without you feeling anything. But get checked out and put your mind at rest rather than feeling anxious.

JacquesHammer · 10/01/2019 17:24

Have you tried having cold drinks etc?

I absolutely agree - go get checked, I did and they couldn’t have been nicer

Hope all is well

clouise2018 · 10/01/2019 17:25

@JacquesHammer I might try that, I've just had a bath to see if that did anything but it didn't and felt nothing when I was in there.

I've come to lie on the bed and I think I can feel something!!

have a tea or coffee, caffeine wakes up a sleepy babe

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 10/01/2019 17:27

I had this advice when I was at a similar stage: Drink a very cold icy drink and wait for 10 mins or so. Little bean might just be cosy and comfortable and you may have just not noticed movement. See if the cold makes him move around at all. It worked for me.

You can still ask to be checked out of course. Best of luck.

MoaningSickness · 10/01/2019 17:27

If movements have dramatically changed, you should go get it checked (it's in all the info I have from the midwife).

That said, with anterior placenta in my last pregnancy I would go long periods without feeling much at that stage, so don't worry. But do get it checked!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 10/01/2019 17:27

Oops x post!

clouise2018 · 10/01/2019 17:28

Ah thanks everyone Smile

Or try some really cold water, they also don't like being cold and complain !

clouise2018 · 10/01/2019 17:46

@Geib8314 will try that!! Sent DP to shop for some cold fizzy drinks also 😂

Definitely get checked out. But, I had an anterior placenta and had the same at around 23/24 weeks. Suddenly couldn't feel anything. They scanned and everything was fine, DDs feet had moved to behind the placenta (whereas her feet were quite high at my 20 week scan) so I couldn't feel any movements. She moved again in a couple of weeks and I could feel her again. The midwife said that they're still small enough at that stage to be hidden behind an anterior placenta. Definitely get checked out for peace of mind though.
