Ever since my baby has been big enough to feed lying down side by side, he seems to have forgotten how to latch on any other way. It's a battle to get him to latch on and stay latched on for more than 10-15 seconds if I'm sat up and holding him. He gets fussy and stressed. I have to lay down if I want him to get a good feed. This is fine at home but not really practical when out and about (I may get a few funny looks!).

Has anyone else found this? It's driving me crazy as he used to latch on fine!

It's not quite the same but i find its easiest to feed my 6mo lying down side to side as any other way she gets too distracted and nosey. She can latch while out and about but doesn't want to as there's too much going on. It's a right pain in the bum

Lying down was easiest for me and my bub too.. I agree it’s tricky when you’re out!

I used to wrap him in a particular swaddle cloth for feeds, and took it out with me so he would have that familiarity. It seemed to help but tbh I was home for 90 per cent of feeds. Hang in there Flowers

Similar but different - DD would only latch in rugby hold, lying on a pillow. Hasn't latched in cradle hold since she was tiny. Before she got reliable on solids, I was keeping a pillow in the car so I could feed her on the back seat when we were out and about. Easier for nosiness too. Not such an easy solution for side lying though!
