To do one day a week in the last weeks of mat leave

So I have 12 weeks left until I am due to return to work. It’s our busiest period in the office and when I popped in to work yesterday to sort a pay error the MD asked if I would like to use my 10 KIT between now and when I go back. In all honesty I’m dreading going back, but in a way think 1 day a week for a few weeks will probably help deal with those fears. MIL is around and can have DD so childcare is not an issue. What would you do?

Might be a nice transition back!

It entirely depends how you feel. The extra income might be nice. You could arrange a couple over the next few weeks and see how it goes. You don't have to commit.

I think it could help you ease your way back in; especially as childcare isn’t a problem.

Yes, I thought a nice transition and secretly the money would be fab. We always had a date set for my return to work from early on in the pregnancy then DD came 8 weeks early (6 weeks before I was due to start mat leave), so we stuck with the initial date so 6 extra weeks we hadn’t factored in.

I guess I’m just a little worried about it making me dread going back full time more (my part time request has been denied), and DH pointed out with part time being denied I should make life hard for them 😂

Sorry, bit of a drip feed

Yes, go back slowly. It is a big adjustment and this will make it easy for you.

This is what I did and it worked well. Have you applied for fliexible working/ a day working from home?

notacooldad · 10/01/2019 08:59

What is your opinion of. your DH's comment about making things hard fir them because the declined part time for you? Are you going to do this?

I think easing back in is a great idea - you'll have a chance to get caught up with your colleagues, do any necessary training/ reading, get any IT things sorted and also ease you as a family into having to all be up and out.
