To find Tom Kerridge patronising

Just watching his new series & find his voice very patronising.
Also his ingredients are very expensive & think it’s just a walking Waitrose ad.

Yep, totally agree! But then all the chefs I’ve known in real life are patronising too.

Foxyscarf · 09/01/2019 21:58

I was browsing through amazon and his books are everywhere and now he's on the TV, and I was thinking hmm now you've lost the weight you're going to try and cash in at every opportunity? Just go away.

I was watching that and thought the same.

God knows what he was doing with that cod, but it sounded such a faff.

Outfoxed · 09/01/2019 22:05

He also once said he didn’t think women had the ambition to ever be good chefs or something to that affect

goingtotown · 09/01/2019 23:55

I love Tom’s new series Fresh Start. I’m finding it inspirational to see him show the families how cooking from scratch can be enjoyed by the whole family.

MorningsEleven · 10/01/2019 00:02

His new show is as dull as arses.

youngestisapsycho · 10/01/2019 00:05

I bought the Fresh start book.... I need to spend a fortune on about 100 different spices, herbs, sauces and vinegars before I can make any of it!

Steamfan · 10/01/2019 00:06

An unpleasant man it would seem - www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2012/nov/08/top-chefs-unite-against-blogger-s-review.
I also seem to recall he did a show from a dog race track - and I'be no time for anyone who supports that

PlumpSyrianHamster · 10/01/2019 00:13

He's very patronising. I turned over when he took out hte blowtorch last week. He used to be sort of tolerable, then he lost all that weight and became insufferable.

BramRang · 10/01/2019 00:22

My parents are really into a lot of his low-carb recipes and regularly leave me a portion. Everything I've tried has tasted AMAZING, but my dad said it took him almost 5 hours to make a shepherds pie following his recipe! Wtf! Just use a bloody potato!

I've never seen him on TV or looked at his cookbooks myself, but that alone has put me off him!

indecisivepigeon · 10/01/2019 01:29

That Guardian article paints him as a horrible guy and a real bully Angry

FireIsRoaring · 10/01/2019 09:24

That article is interesting & awful at the same time . That poor guy

I saw him once make a lasagna or a cottage pie and it was the most ridiculous amount of work I have ever seen. No wonder people don’t bother cooking when they are told that’s how you make something relatively simple.

positivepixie · 10/01/2019 09:37

Just goes to show what judgements people can make based on assumptions and media! He is a truly lovely man. He's all about flavour, so yes some of the recipes need spices and herbs but all worth it.

I'm not convinced by his cooking; there is still a lot of unhealthy sugary stuff going on.

He is also still overweight himself.

Some back shots of him last night showed rolls of fat hanging over his jeans at the back. Yes he's done well to lose all that weight but I wonder if he's putting it back on and no one's dared say?

Imsosorryalan1 · 10/01/2019 10:11

That's just cruel, the rolls of fat are probably loose skin that no amount of diet/exercise is going to shift

Daysofpearlyspencer · 10/01/2019 10:27

I looked at booking lunch once at his gastro pub. You are expected to book about a year in advance and the table was only to be available for a set time. Very expensive and the set lunch was to be tomato soup and shepherds pie! Hardly gastronomy

JinglingHellsBells · 10/01/2019 10:31

It's not cruel to point out that a chef promoting weight loss recipes in his books and on TV is still overweight.

If you can't see that, maybe try Specsavers? :)
It's not loose skin.
