No really she is. She is being continually harassed by a squirrel. It waits until she is safely shut behind our glass back door then comes in our garden stopping purposely and lords herself in front of her EVERY SINGLE MORNING.
Squirrels don't even bloody hibernate.
I can't find any support groups to help her so AIBU to stand outside like a woman possessed ready to have a stern word?
Ps I think the squirrel is a girl if that makes any difference. I promise I'm not some weird squirrel perv it's just that I've seen the one on GBBO and think it would be obvious if it was male Grin

Does your dog not bark and scare it away? Our neighbours cat does this, literally hissed and taunts our dog behind a shut patio door. Unless it realises his barking is very audible and that's because our other back door is open. It soon buggers off.

That cat has a serious issue harassing neighbourhood dogs.

gimmeadoughnut123 · 09/01/2019 19:32

Also the squirrel is likely waiting for your dog to go in before searching your garden for food. Rather than purposefully harrassing. I'm guessing you know that though haha

No word of a lie, my friend has been flashed by a squirrel. He lounged on her balcony railing, legs akimbo and gave her an eyeful.
She now a where he buries his nuts, so went and dug it up.
Two can at at that game.
I've tried chill paste and spray round the garden And its had no impact
How come squirrels don't run the world though? Nothing beats them

silkpyjamasallday · 09/01/2019 19:36

There was a squirrel like this that used to appear at my exes house on Sunday afternoons to torment his Nana's dog. It was definitely purposeful harassment, never saw it at any other time. I'd just let your dog chase it off a few times and it hopefully won't come back, the Nana's dog was obese and couldn't have caught a tortoise though so that wasn't an option. The incessant barking was v annoying.

Give yourself a few extra minutes one morning and lure the squirrel in by bringing your dog in early, then let dog out again. Will give the squirrel one heck of a fright but it will be fast enough to escape. Then you have a few minutes to get dog in again. (Or if you have time to let dog in and out more than once anyway you can just do it without having to start earlier.)

I am sure squirrel will soon stop tormenting dog after a few close shaves with her teeth.

Our neighbours used to get woken up at 5 every morning by a fox sitting outside their patio doors where their boxer dog could see it and who would then bark loudly. The fox knew the dog couldn't get to him so he just sat there tormenting him.

TerriTummyTowels · 09/01/2019 19:56

You could have just used the word dog in your title you know Hmm clickbait much?

bettytaghetti · 09/01/2019 20:01

lolaflores nothing can beat a squirrel apart from a green parakeet apparently! I was in our local park and heard a great kerfuffle from a tree just ahead as I was walking along. Looked up to see a fight between a parakeet and a squirrel and then the squirrel fell out of the tree and landed with a thud at my feet! Got up a bit disorientated, and then scarpered off to safety before my dog could get it!!

wheretoyougonow · 09/01/2019 20:21

Thank you for sharing your evil squirrel stories . I am beginning to think they are evil geniuses. I sometimes feel that I am stuck in a squirrel version of Caddyshack!

@TerriTummyTowels I am sorry you clicked on the thread hoping it was a woman.

Op if MN were that fussed about your title, they’d change it themselves.

Just sayin

billybagpuss · 09/01/2019 20:36

I actually laid in wait with an elastic band for a squirrel once. Little bastard kept helping himself to the bird feeder. I sat just inside the door with the band poised and when he appeared I let fire. By some miracle I actually hit him right on the arse. He went off like a rocket. Didn’t deter him though, he was back within the hour.

We have squirrel proof feeders now. Warms my heart to see him sliding back down the pole every time.

Disclaimer: I’m not really that mean, I do chuck him a few peanuts every now and then.
