To think she should leave it alone?

Sister got flashed by a speed camera the Saturday before New Year. She’s told me today she’s worried she hasn’t had a letter yet and wants to ‘chase it up’ with the police as she doesn’t want to get in trouble.

AIBU to tell her to calm down and leave it alone? It’s not been 2 weeks yet and there was a bank holiday... She’s only been driving 6 months so worries about car things probably more than she should.

The letter will come or it won’t, worrying won’t change that.

I would wait till they get hold of her if i am honest. I have heard some people havent recieved a letter for like 6 months.

Not all speed cameras have film in them all the time, though they always flash. The department responsible for them will not tell anyone which ones, of course.
If your sister is truly stressed, she could write to ask if her number plate is in their system. She should look for a title like "Safety Cameras" on the local Police website.
They may be too busy to answer of course-which is the same reason not all the cameras have film in them all the time.
