To sell a necklace I found (belongs to me)

I was having a clear out and I’ve found a necklace that had been sitting in my drawer for over 10 years.
It’s never been worn & still in the box. I got it from my exh just before I finally woke up to his abuse and said no more. I think it was a trying to sweeten me gift as I was starting to open my eyes to him.
I have saw it over the years and keep meaning to throw it out but didn’t know if I should keep it for my dds even though they are nc with him so always left it.
Today is mega clean day so was putting it in the bin but it’s got a sticker saying real diamond- could I sell it & how would I do it?

I hope you get something for it.

Ignore rude people on here, keyboard warriors, the lot of them !

Did you take it to town op? Hope you got a few pounds for it - everything is worth something even if it's not much, it all helps. I hope you do get something for itSmile

I once sold my.mums solid gold wedding and engagement ring to a jewellery shop. I got £12 for both, not each! I was like 14 at the time so thought why not, but looking bad I think I got ripped off😂

9 carat gold is selling for scrap about £10 a gram
As it looks quite lightweight I’d guess £25-50
I would take to a reputable jeweller rather than your cash converter or pawn shop outlets
I recently tried to sell a bangle - cash converters offered me £120
Other jewellers offered between £150 and £200 so I put on eBay with a starting price of £200
It sold for over £300

I’m going into town on Thursday so will try there, I’m not on Facebook or anything to sell it (ex h used it to stalk me) or will stick it on gumtree/eBay, I’ll be delighted even with £10, will buy kids little treat.

How did you get on, @Justyou?

DeadButDelicious · 12/01/2019 21:51

Valentine's Day is coming up, it could be a bargain present for someone. It's pretty enough. I'd stick it on eBay and see what it goes for. If it doesn't sell, oh well, donate it to a charity shop. Either way it's better than it sitting in a drawer. Good luck OP!

I took it to a jeweller in town, and they gave me £30. I was over the moon, kids got a cinema trip & popcorn out of it & we have some left to buy a bit extra shopping to stick in our local food bank trolley next time we shop. We needed it once.
Thank you for all the helpful advice x
