Transform my vagina for £189?!

Strange title I know, but basically I wanted to know if a kegal machine would really sort out my pelvic floor!

I'm mid 30's with three children. My youngest is 10 and I'd never done my pelvic floor exercises after having them.

Is it to late to tighten up down there without surgery? Has anyone used these devices or have any other tips that works?

Thanks in advance

Watching because I'm curious also

PawPawNoodle · 06/01/2019 22:24

Given the option I'd rather transform mine into something a bit more practical, like a wine cooler.

I bought one and noticed immediate results for stress incontinence (I'm postpartum). Best £150 I've spent lately.

Polpot- I could probably fit a crate of wine up there hence the problem

Greyclouds- wow that's good to know. The reviews on site are great but I don't always trust how genuine they are.

Did you have to do it religiously every day?

Do you have a link please? I have the Athenafem

I’ve always been curious and tempted. They came out rated highly on some tests they did on different ones on tv a couple of years ago-may have been embarrassing bodies or similar.

But recently read on here of a woman who tried one and it caused a reaction-she has a nickel allergy as do I but never thought something like that would contain nickel! I’m shocked as nickel is not exactly an uncommon allergy and certainly not something you’d want to react to inside your vagina (ouch).

savemefromspending · 06/01/2019 22:46

Solebiz- I don't know how to link. But it's called kegel8.

Makingmiricals- gosh that sounds painful. I suppose it is a worry.

I just don't know whether it's worth splashing out on or whether I'd get as much success doing the old fashioned method. I just doubt I'd be disciplined enough to keep it up.

I say buy it OP!

Would you consider the wand tightening treatment?

It's often on offer on Groupon. It's the same method the NHS use.

popcornwizard · 06/01/2019 23:09

I was drunkenly mumsnetting one evening and accidentally bought some recommended toning thing, was only about £15 but it's made no difference at all. Might take it out of the box some time and give it a go.....

GreyCloudsToday · 08/01/2019 21:30

To be honest I did it religiously for a couple of weeks and then started to slack. You do a programme first and then maintenance exercises so it's not too onerous. It's a reasonable price compared to what a series of physio appointments would cost. I tried to get a referral to NHS ppartum physio but the GP lost the referral and I just couldn't manage to sort it out with a new baby and a preschooler!

70sbaubles · 08/01/2019 21:34

Get surgery x

MsLucyLastic · 08/01/2019 21:39

Putting aside my first thought (which was "oooh transform it into what?" Grin), I was referred to a post natal physio by the GP for several reasons post pregnancy. As part of it, she tested my pelvic floor strength. She said if there were any problems in this area, there was lots that could be done.

As it is, I didn't need any intervention and came away with the instructions to do Kegel exercises. She showed me how to do them properly.

Would it be worth asking your GP for a referral before shelling out for a machine?

Booboostwo · 08/01/2019 22:00

My women’s health physiology recommended on to help with saddle anaesthesia after Cauda Equina (basically I lost feeling in the nerves so I can feel penetration is happening but have no pleasurable feelings at all). It has a helped and there is a small, steady improvement.

I did get the nickel plated attachment first off, which was a bit annoying as I had told my physio I have a nickel allergy, then had to buy the gold plated one.

sar302 · 08/01/2019 22:07

Spend the money on a private assessment and a couple of sessions with a woman's health physiotherapist. They can identify any problems you're having, and give you specific exercises to do, rather than you just squeezing blindly around a wand!

Bambamber · 08/01/2019 22:10

I used legal balls, much cheaper and made the world of difference! I can now even jump on a trampoline without wetting myself! Beforehand I couldn't even cough without wetting myself

ShortandSweet96 · 08/01/2019 22:12

Ann summers do balls you walk around with to tighten peliv floor muscles. Very 50 shades I know, but worth a try right?

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 08/01/2019 22:13

Pilates. Awesome for your pelvic floor and all the rest of you.
