To take my 2 month old baby to the cinema?

I have an unlimited card for Cineworld and very little money to go to another cinema as I'm on maternity leave - there's plenty of films I want to see coming up but the cinemas near me don't do the baby showings and the junior showings are all kids films.

They allow baby's into the regular showings (see picture) and I know I can keep my baby quiet 🍼 so it wouldn't disturb other people's viewing. (Would most likely be going to less busy morning sessions anyway)

My aibu about taking baby with me is about the noise levels - is it too loud for a baby, do you think it might damage ears?

Parent and baby showing yes, kids movie not completely ideal but could potentially live with but for a normal adult showing? Hell no!

Cinema for us is a rare treat... We go to have a break from baby life, we don't need someone elses baby potentially disturbing our kid free time when it's in a place where really a baby shouldn't be and isn't expected to be, that's why we choose to go to the cinema afterall... I do find it rather inconsiderate.

Popcorn and rustling is a lot different than a baby fussing so the comparison is ridiculous and no one can guarantee that their baby will just sleep or feed with no problems.

Sorry but being a parent does mean we don't always get to do what we want when we want, there are other options that don't affect others.

Cinema threads on MN really do seem to bring out the worst in some posters...

It's fine OP, you know your baby as you say and I am sure you'd do the right thing. See loads of mums and babies as we tend to go during the day and I have never once been disturbed.

MaderiaCycle · 07/01/2019 02:23

Carry on OP. Enjoy yourself and your little one

Yeah, you're right. Those who think I have baby I don't give a shit I still want to go see a film . Sod everyone else.
Sorry, but comments like yours are just asking for the alternate considerate view to say go bollocks lol.

Confused are just asking for the alternate considerate view to say go bollocks lol.

I don't really understand that. Never mind.

As I said I've been plenty of times and seen mums and babies and there's never been a problem or disturbance. Some of you have been very unlucky haven't you?

StUmbrageinSkelt · 07/01/2019 02:52

Autism sessions are for people with autism, not people with babies. Many PWA would be very disturbed to have a baby crying.

chardonm · 07/01/2019 02:55

I can't believe that there are really people who think it's fine to take a baby to the cinema. Horribly rude!

knittedjest · 07/01/2019 03:03

This is why I have my own home cinema now. Can't stand other people and their offspring. Last movie I saw in cinemas was a quiet place and some dumbell had brought their young child to it who then proceeded to talk all the way through it. Never again.

stuckbetweenlife · 07/01/2019 03:06

I did and he would sleep all the way through or just cuddle me. If he had made noise I would of just taken him out. Like when the other dc were small I would just calm them out side. You have to know how your dc we be, I hate nothing more than people letting their dc cry and then react by shouting.

binkyblinky · 07/01/2019 03:27

My cinemas do cinebabies showings, cineworld Milton Keynes. I think odeon do it too. Lights are left on. Sound turned down. Brilliant as I got to perv at Jason momoa in relative peace !!

YouBetterWORK · 07/01/2019 03:34

Oh I'm so sorry Oyster, didn't realise you were im the cinema for that particular film so you know exactly what happened.

Yep, cinema threads just bring nasty comments.
