to think people should be able to park more considerately outside the school

ds school(secondary) is in a residential road.so lots of drives and side roads. so people park on the corner so they block the dropped kerb and block drives. Had a good laugh at a woman having to move as she had blocked a drive.
It is a secondary school the kids can walk down the road a bit.

People who park on double yellows near school really drive me nuts - they're a safety thing FFS. Why do some people (and there must be a good percentage of Mumsnetters who do it) think they are more important than the safety of everyone else's kids?
Anyone feel brave enough to do something about it next term? We could knock up a little 'ticket' with some well-worded ranting and leave them on windscreens. I realise it wouldn't change anything but it would annoy them.

Why then do parents feel the need to park outside the school gates, arriving a good 20 minutes early to get 'their spot' on the pavement blocking anyone in a wheelchair or pushing a pram?

I feel like telling them to get off their lardy arses and walk; the temptation to 'catch' the car as I'm forced into the road with my children is one I fight every time I go past!

What really got my goat was when I was standing on the pavement, with my youngest in her pram and my son was picking flowers (well weeds), and some cretin hooted for us to get out the way so he could park where we were stood!

I live in a village with two primary schools, and the one nearest me takes its intake from quite a small area, certainly walking distance for most of the children who attend.

I can't believe parents drive their kids to secondary school! Unless you live very far away, surely the kids can walk or get the bus like i did.
