I met a psychologist recently who behaved very judgementally towards me and was very rude on first meeting with a friend. I can only assume they have been given a less than attractive impression of me based upon a family disagreement.

Aibu to feel that irrespective of information you have been given, common courtesy and manners should prevail but aibu in thinking that a qualified clinical psychologist should be less judgemental based upon their profession?

I think I'd have to know how they 'behaved judgementally' towards you to comment.

Spit on you in the street? Sounds pretty judgemental.

Walking past without acknowledging you in the street? Not so much

There are wankers in every profession. Many people have a different professional persona than their daily life persona.

Why are there overweight doctors? Nurses who smoke? Teachers who make grammatical errors? Dentists who have bad breath? Etc etc. Psychologists, like everyone else, are just human.

I don't think their profession has much to do with it to be honest. They weren't in a professional environment, they should be held to the same standards of behaviour as the rest of us. Hard to know if you are BU without knowing what they did and what the disagreement was.

They're people too. In what capacity did you meet them? They're allowed to be off duty.

Maybe they were having an off day ?assuming you didn't meet them in a professional capacity than there's not much you can do.

In my experience psychogists are just like everybody else. I know several socially. Some are lovely, some are less nice. Just like nurses, dentists, teachers, priests or anyone else in a professional role that involves working with people.

If you came into contact with this psychologist in a personal/social situation rather than a professional one, they can behave however they like.

If you met them outside of a therapy session they were probably trying to keep the relationship on a professional footing.
