To despair at my noisy cat

Before we start this is 100% not a 'should I rehome' thread. I love my furry friend but I am at a loss at what to do.

It sounds trivial and a bit of a non issue but my God, my cat is so noisy. She never, ever stops meowing since we've had her (2 years nearly). And it can get so bad that it keeps us up well into the early hours because it's so loud.

I think she is happy, we play, cuddle, she goes outside. I did take her to the vets as I was concerned she was in pain but they confirmed there was nothing wrong and she is just 'vocal'.

Does anyone else have this problem?! We have other pets and none of them are like this.

I feel your pain. One of ours never shuts up. It sound just like she is shouting 'oh noooo, oh noooo' over and over and over. On top of that the minute you sit down she comes over to you pawing you looking for strokes all while screaming 'oh noooo', she won't sit on your lap and get strokes though, she likes you to follow her around the room stroking her as she goes. It makes watching a film delightful.

We tried to persuade her to go outside and maybe work off some of her energy but she refuses, she will sit at an open door or window and stare out but will not step foot outside.

A former neighbour's cat became known as the Ginger Whinger; I have never heard such a vocal cat in all my life. It was incessant, he'd regularly lose his voice and yet still carry on.
Nothing wrong with him apparently, he just loved the sound of his own voice!

Both the cats I’ve had have been shouters. A male neutered moggy and a female neutered Siberian, which isn’t known for being a vocal breed. I suspect it’s because I find it cute and funny and encourage it, I like to have a chat with them. Not at night though, fortunately.

Have to Bengal boys and they never shut up. I can literally hear them coming in at night from across the field - and so can my (very cat friendly) neighbours. I wish they'd be more quiet but the more I shush them the louder they get. And they talk even when eating which sounds like a turkey gobbling. We've got them into a routine where they sleep (with us more often than not) and they are quiet. They seem to respond to the routine as they are shut in at night and settle down. But think vocal cats will always be talkers....

My cat wakes me up at 5am every bloody day - she meows and chirps. I have no idea why - I think it’s just for attention because there is plenty of food out for her. Sometimes she wants under the covers, sometimes she wants stroked, sometimes I don’t even think she knows what she wants - just bored?! She has lots of toys and has free reign of the house at night. But she sits on my bedside table crying!!

I have a yowler, having a conversation with her seems to help.

She may not be full siamese or oriental, but I wonder if there's a bit of that in her? She doesn't have particularly big ears, a long wedgy face, or a slinky body type does she?!

I'm owned by a siamese - my third oriental or siamese cat. I love them because yes, they want to talk and interact with you - to the point that I've had the plumber standing there dumbstruck because I'm having a full on argument/debate with the cat, lol! (They all swore like bloody troopers, too, I can't imagine where they got that from. . .)
