Stupid argument, but who was at fault?

Person A, holding a cup of tea, walked behind Person B, getting something out of a chest of drawers. Person B elbowed the tea cup and tea spilled all over the bed. Who is at fault?

Person A
Person B
Both of them

One party to this may have been hormonal and I know it's very silly but it's the principle of the thing!

Not everything is someone's fault. Do you really enjoy being in a relationship this petty?

TeddybearBaby · 06/01/2019 10:27

Haha I’m in a petty mood sometimes. It’s usually to do with how I’m feeling - tired, stressed, just generally in a bad mood. Then the tea incident would really piss me off. If I was skipping along, it’s christmas Day, everything is good in the world I’m completely different. Don’t worry about the tea love! These things happen haha. Enjoy your brunch ☺️😋

Person A. Having worked in cafes/restaurants, when you walk behind someone you always say something. “Behind you” or “Backs, watch your backs” etc.

That said, no great harm done, just be sure to say something in future. If nobody tells you these things then sometimes you have to learn the hard way! Flowers

No one, it was an accident Hmm

Jeezoh · 06/01/2019 10:35

Person A, unless Person B has eyes in the back of their head and could see Person A was holding a cup of tea.

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/01/2019 10:35

Err, I think that's what known in the trade as An Accident.....

carrotflinger · 06/01/2019 10:38

What a fuss about nothing.
It was an accident. A should have said something so that B would know they were there.

LemonTT · 06/01/2019 10:38

There’s a proverb or saying from somewhere in the world. It’s about pointless arguments and who is to blame. The saying, which I cannot remember, going with the idea that the fault lies with the more intelligent or wisest party. Definitely the case here.

Shoppingwithmother · 06/01/2019 10:40

Person A!

FortunesFave · 06/01/2019 10:45

You were at fault OP because you shouldn't walk around holding hot drinks. Or any drinks or food. Sit down and drink.

Teaonthebedsheets · 06/01/2019 11:22

I'm sure most of you have been there- experiencing PMS, got a young toddler to look after, tired, late getting out of the house...

I never pretended it was anything but a v silly argument but we are the kind of people to admit if we are wrong and defend ourselves if we think we are right. I couldn't see I was being unreasonable but now I see I definitely was.

Thanks for the helpful comments!

No need to tell me it was a stupid argument or an accident or whatever - I know!

Thanks again all, brunch had and fully enjoyed. Enjoy your Sundays.

Person A. They were the one with the awareness of the hot drink and also they were the ones approaching. Person B had no hot drink and were stationary ie not on the move/approaching. It's fairly clear cut Smile

Consolidatedyourloins · 06/01/2019 12:11

Person A. It's all good saying accidents happen but this one was avoidable if he had the common sense to realise you wouldn't be wble to see him and the mug.

Craft1905 · 06/01/2019 12:37

People saying "no one, it was an accident". Just because something is an accident, it doesn't mean no one was at fault. If I crash my car into a tree, it's an accident....caused by my own stupidity.
