AIBU to get her up?
My daughter has always loved her sleep - sleeping well as a baby and enjoying an afternoonnap even now on occasions!
She is almost 12 now and hormones etc are obviously kicking in.
Should I be waking her at the weekends at a reasonable hour or just lettin her get on with it?
Her waking time doesn’t affect her ability to go to sleep at night.
I always said when I was a teen that I’d let my kids sleep until they wanted to but my daughter isn’t even a teen yet!
What happens in your house?

My 12 year old DD is the same - thoroughly embracing the whole ‘teens love their sleep’ thing - particularly noticeable these hols! She’s up before 7 for school term time &, although grumpy, manages no problem. Her tech is kept downstairs at night & although she would read until all hours if left to it, turns her light off just after 9 when I shout up & is asleep before we go to bed around 10. Perfectly normal I’d say - enjoy the chance for a long lie yourself 😉

Let her sleep.

I slept until 11am this morning and I’m 31! DP knew how much I needed it so got up with DS and left me to sleep.

As a pp said when I was a teenager my Mum would drag me out of bed by 9am at the latest every school holiday and weekend and even now I resent her for it. She used to make me get up and dressed and come downstairs, except I wasn’t allowed to watch TV as my younger brother always gets dibs on it to watch cartoons and I literally sat on the sofa staring in to space waiting for my friends to wake up at lunchtime so I could go out.

That's nothing, my partners daughter (15) slept til half 4 yesterday lol. Even she said I don't know how I'm going to manage to get up at 7 for school Monday

Entirely normal.

My children and I have been doing the same this holiday unless we have plans.

Term time we’re all out the house by 7.30 so it’s been lovely not to have alarms and wake up naturally.

Yep. Same here. I get really annoyed thinking about it. It just seems so aggressive and controlling. I remember feeling so tired at the weekend but having to get up so I could sit downstairs whilst my grumpy mother moaned at me. Def won't do it with my children.

Dd has just turned 11. She get up at 6.45 Mon to Fri so I can drop her at breakfast club at 7.30. She does activities during the week. She doesn't get up before midday on a Saturday.

She's basically a teen now - hormones have obviously kicked in, let her sleep!
