Just that, looking to get tickets for summer and wow, just wow, how much!

They must be cheaper somewhere, but where?

Anyone managed to find a cheaper alternative?

Email attraction tickets direct with the best price you’ve found- I’ve found them very helpful and they tweaked deals and freebies to fit with what I wanted. Florida tix, Orlando attraction tickets and American attractions are all worth looking at too.

We did £1200 for tickets for 5 about 2 years ago. Bought a 4 day ticket for Disney and got a free day and a one day universal pass. Was more than enough. We flew indirect so 5 flights for £1300 on American and then booked a car for about £300 for 2 weeks, lovely 3 bed apartment off Disney for £400 and then a more expensive one on the gulf coast for the second week. Total holiday for less than £6k. Kids found the parks boring and after about 3 days complained that they didn’t want to go any more so I’m glad we didn’t splash out. When we asked them what the best part of the holiday was and what they remember they said riding on Segway’s.

We’ve done Florida five times in the last 9 years and only done the universal parks three of the times. I’ve personally done Florida 13 times. I’m from the uk.

We prioritise staying near Disney as it means less driving and you spend most of your time there. Lots more in the vicinity of each park too.

Disney give you three free fast passes to rides each day. You pay for them in universal.

I love universal but Disney gives you more and you can transfer your parking across all 5 parks each day.

I’d love Florida and I’d go every year but it’s a £7k holiday for us 3 each time.

That said, the minion ride and rip ride it roll a coaster are worth the entrance fee alone for universal

thanks Unihorn we’ll be back over for 6 weeks in July, the Scottish schools ending that bit earlier for summer means we’re able to come a bit earlier in the season. Flowers

I think they say that the ideal time to go is half way through August as that's when the American schools go back. Supposed to be a bit quieter in the parks.

BumbleBeee69 · 06/01/2019 23:25

it’s not overly busy now, within the parks, but the queing is still as long, the worst one I felt was the Skull Island, every corner you turned was another skull filled room, grooooan. At least with the Potter rides, the ques were in an exquisite replica of Hogworts corridors chandeliers talking paintings, really helped the que time pass. lordy Im a grumpy Mum lol Hmm

Ah, I’ve found my people! We are going in November. 10 days at Animal Kingdom lidge and four at Royal Pacific. Dining Plan deal. Just booked our flights with Virgin (direct). For the two of us it’s workimg out around 6k including Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and a couple of other tours (and including potential spends).

Notsurprisedatall · 07/01/2019 01:47

We are going near Halloween for three weeks, dreading explaining that to the school. 4 adults 2 kids was £9500ish with virgin but we aren't going to universal. Car hire premium package, people mover, premium villa, flights, memory maker and Disney springs luggage drop off. The youngest will be 4 so we decided, sadly, to not go to Universal as we didn't think it was suitable for little ones.

I would love to go to the universal Halloween house night though...

Might have to find a babysitting service lol!!!

Letsmoveondude · 07/01/2019 01:58

Not surprised, will you be doing MNSSHP whilst out there? We did it last year, and it was brilliant! We were just walking straight onto rides, the shows were brill and we loved trick or treating in magic kingdom!

MrHaroldFry · 07/01/2019 02:16

We are just back from
Florida and our Universal tickets (inc.Volcano Bay which is amazingly good) set us back £1k (2ad +2Ch). So your quote is pretty average.
I found the US more expensive for things like supermarket shopping about 20% more expensive this Christmas than 2016. However gas was cheap at $2 a gallon approx.

Quartz2208 · 07/01/2019 07:08

Not my youngest has loved universal since he was 3. Has always been a huge dr Seuss fan

Notsurprisedatall · 07/01/2019 08:27

@Letsmoveondude yes we will be booking tickets for MNSSHP!!!
I can't wait! I have seen soo many Youtube vlogs and videos about it, they all rave about it too!
I really want to see some villains, the headless horseman and the Anderson sisters show.

Does anyone have any recommendations for park snacks? I am dying to try a funnel cake.

Notsurprisedatall · 07/01/2019 08:32

Universal looks like it is full of big kid rides, darnit wish I had booked them!

Oh!!! I forgot to mention we got cheap tickets from costco for other experiences in Orlando. Things like airboat rides, garland, Orlando eye, wonderworks etc. It was discounted because of black Friday worked out around £45 for four attractions.

Iooselipssinkships · 07/01/2019 08:46

We used Attraction Tickets Direct and found them the cheapest, plus with lots of freebies thrown in.
Someone mentioned the Avanti which is where we stayed, it's on International Drive and is absolutely gorgeous as well as being the most affordable.
Looking at going again 2020 and can't wait!

themueslicamel · 15/01/2019 23:59

Thanks for the Deewol Facebook group, for anyone looking it's brilliant.

14 nights Disney with fast pass and 14 nights universal studios for £620 ahead with cash back via Quidco too.

How long are you there for? A Disney Universal combo ticket gives 14 days at each, if you're there longer than 14 days make sure you activate one ticket later to get maximum value. If you have tickets before you go make sure you register at My Disney Experience to book Fast Passes at Disney. Universal parking is free after 6pm, we like to go to Disney early til about 2pm then go to Universal later.
What really annoys me is if you stay on site you're still charged to park!
Still cheaper than Alton Towers and they're open much later, to try a positive spin on it!

themueslicamel · 16/01/2019 07:59

Going to Miami first as it was £600 cheaper on the flights for the 5 of us and spending a couple of nights there with a day in the Everglades, before driving up for 13 nights in Orlando.

We bought the 14 day joint. Disney/Universal tickets in December. £2.5K for 2 adults/2 children through Attractions Direct. Also bought 2 Express Passes for Universe in the UK before travelling out there. When we got to Universal, we had to pay even more on the gate as on the day that we had booked these for, they increased the Express Pass prices. That was a bit of a shock but we didn't want to waste the £180 that we had already spent. We had a good time though and saved hours in the queues.
