I am a mum of 4 currently 27 weeks pregnant with my 5th. These holidays feel like they have dragged, I love spending time with my children but we have run out of all the planned fun activities now. I have spent so much of the holidays cleaning the house and half the time looks like I haven't bothered haha
The kids are constantly 'bored' despite the abundance of art and crafts, baking, role play games, walks in the country side we are doing.. I just want my peace and quiet back now, does that make me a terrible mum?

Last day of holidays for my two today, I'm not looking forward to the getting them up/breakfasted/dressed/squabbles/school run etc but I am looking forward to some p&q and blissful solitude!

I do need to start looking for a new job too, plus the house is a tip and I just want to get myself back into a routine.

My DS has played on his Nintendo Switch a lot since Xmas (big present), so detaching him from that will be good.

We have a playdate today so that will help the last day go by and the kids will have a good run about.

Laiste

I completely agree with everything you have written about all the things that need doing in the morning before the school run!

No could very easily do another week but I'm not pregnant!

Christmas and New Year were so busy with family staying and visits to other family that they were tired and grouchy this morning and no where near ready to go back. They don't seem to get bored really, I don't do much in the way of craft and baking etc ever. But my eldest are a teen and pre-teen and they love the luxury of nothing to do, never hear them utter the word bored as they seem able to amuse themselves in the most inane ways. They are just thrilled not to be at school. The youngest two are 7 year old twins and are also pretty good at mooching aimlessly, although having each other probably now makes it easier for the rest of us (finally there's a pay off for the first 5 years of chaos).

We got back from visiting family yesterday and would have been much happier staying in bed.

We have one DC so it has been a piece of piss.

We have met friends in the park, we did one day at the Christmas fair (indoor thing with a million activities, DS played Scalextric, did a couple of laps on a kart, practised cycling on a pitch with traffic lights and islands etc, drew a picture of our town and wrote about his favourite place, and went on a bouncy castle; all for €3!). We have been to the beach a few times with the dog, or with his bff to play rugby. We went up into the hills yesterday for a picnic. He has a friend coming round for lunch today. DH has taken him to see GPs a couple of times.

The rest of the holiday has been spent at home with new toys, building stuff, boardgames, drawing/painting. And surprisingly a lot of reading, DS has just cracked reading and has read all his Christmas present books!

Christmas finished for us yesterday afternoon, as i started taking the decorations down. On the 5th was the 3 Kings parade so everything here was still festive, big family gatherings etc.

Sales start today! DS goes back tomorrow, I start work tomorrow, too. We don't have a break until Easter AngryWineWine

I’m not looking forward to waking up early everyday and getting 3 ready for school. I am looking forward to being in a peaceful and quiet home for 6 hours. As always, our holiday starts off brilliantly, then they gradually get bored and then they get sick of their siblings and the constant bickering and fighting starts. My kids have been sleeping at 11pm/12am for the past 2 weeks so tonight and tomorrow is going to be interesting.

@Absofrigginlootly.. thanks for the book recommendation. Smile

@WalkingInTheAir13.. that's true..I don't ever remember my parents playing with me as a child apart from a few board games I never wanted to play. I was an only but I did have dogs and they were my best friends. DS is our only and I think the main reason we spend so much time and energy entertaining him is we're worried he's lonely. We've thought of getting a dog but are not really in the position to get one, same as as having another child I suppose
