To ask if you apply for a duplicate birth certificate

Is it a duplicate certificate or a scan of the original.

Does anyone know?

Last week someone had a copy marriage from the GRO. It was a photocopy of the original. They phoned them and were told it was wrong.

@potatoscone this was the thread that I'd seen which promoted me to ask the question.

I never had a full birth certificate (mum just got the free short version) so i had to order a copy when I got married. Ordered from the gov website and has been used for wedding and dbs cert....I'm sure it will be fine for opening a bank account too.

It's not a scan it's a "certified copy" of an entry.
