How can I stop my shoes from rubbing?

Night out tonight - I've tried to wear in some new shoes and they rub so hard on the back of my foot I've already got blisters. How do I do this without being in ridiculous pain all night?

Hi OP, what material are they?

lacosta · 05/01/2019 09:39

@SoBoredOfWaiting it's a really casual night so they're just trainer pumps. Leather outside, fabric inside.

Rub a bar of soap over the inside of the heel of the shoes

Competed blister plasters! They mimic skin and stay on for days which will stop the friction.

lacosta · 05/01/2019 09:40

@AllTheCakes actually have blister plasters in. I've never found them great but shall try again!

Lots of chemists will sell the shoe comfort ‘dots’ which are made of transparent adhesive silicone material (?). Just pop these in the shoe where it rubs.

Yup, Compeed blister plasters are amazing. I currently have a blister on the sole of my foot from running and the Compeed plasters are my saviour.

BiscuitDrama · 05/01/2019 09:49

If you already have a blister I think those shooed will be really painful, whatever plaster you add.

lacosta · 05/01/2019 09:52

@BiscuitDrama I did think this. Would it hurt less in another pair?

Compeed blister plasters are a life saver in these situations. Don't pull them off until they fall off and your foot will have healed underneath.

burblife · 05/01/2019 09:53

They're less like plasters and more like little cushions.

Thesmallthings · 05/01/2019 09:55

Really thick socks or even double sock and wear round the house for a day or two.

Thesmallthings · 05/01/2019 09:56

Or if you need them wear tights/pop sock should give you a small amount of room so they don't rub

Blister plasters aren't robust enough and will slide during the evening. Will your ankles be bare? I use KT tape, fabric plaster in a long strip that you cut yourself, or very wide surgical tape. Wrap a long wide piece over your heel, so it goes much lower down in the shoe and higher up towards your ankle. This will protect you and help to wear the shoes in. With socks or bare ankles and trousers it's mostly hidden.

If I can't hide the tape, I get it in matching colours to my outfit and wear it proudly!! But all my friends know I have serious feet/shoes issues and can turn up for a night out in my wheelchair when they're bad. Hope you have a great night!
