To wonder what Lush were thinking......

When they designed bright blue bath bombs?

My lovely husband bought me some bath bombs for Christmas to celebrate us having a bath for the first time in nearly two years (we moved into a complete renovation project and our bathroom is one of the last rooms to have been started). I've never really expressed a desire or even an interest in bath bombs, but really appreciate the thought behind the gift.

However, they're bright bloody blue!

I braved one tonight and I lasted about 3 minutes in the bath with it. The water went a deep blue and the hand I picked it up with is now very slightly stained a lovely shade of smurf blue.

I can't imagine anyone would bathe with one of those and come out feeling cleaner. I hosed the bath out once I got out and the blue and gold sludge that remained was disgusting.

I appreciate that I'm getting a little over invested in a bath bomb, but I know they were expensive and now I have about £15 worth of bombs that will never get used.

Is this a marketing ploy from Lush? It seems a strange one from a company so interested in being environmentally friendly.

They used to be bath cubes when I were a lass...

DD was given one for Xmas. Really difficult to get rid of all the shiny detritus - I had star glitter clinging to me earlier

violetxo · 04/01/2019 20:02

@KurriKurri
That's a good idea never thought of doing that. I use bath bombs all the time. I got one for Christmas from lush and it was white at first then it turned blue and green. It wasn't a deep blue it was just a nice light blue. It was nice but it made me feel abit clammy and sticky. Was pretty thou and smelt beaut.

DH and I love lush bath bombs and bubble bars. I never have a problem with them staining my skin, sometimes there is a bit of glitter left on my skin but never too much. The only one I’ve had that I don’t like is one with shower jelly on the bomb.

Some of them do leave a residue in the bath but a quick swill with the shower fixes this, and I’d do that if I had a bubble bath anyway.

I’ve never had a yeast infection or any problems from using them Hmm

CleverQuacks · 04/01/2019 20:06

I love them! My favourite is galactica which turns the water dark blue with gold glitter. I throw the whole thing in and have never been stained blue.

2ducks2ducklings · 04/01/2019 20:09

I don't know what it is called but it's bright blue with gold stars in it.

I used to like Lush products years ago but they seem to have been putting more and more chemicals in as the years have gone by, now I can't even bear to walk past their shop and two of my DCs get a headache from it. I dispute any environmentally friendly claims they make about the bath bombs with all that glitter and stuff added but I love the henna hair colour.

LtJudyHopps · 04/01/2019 20:12

Shoot for the stars - my favourite! It is quite oily from the melts in it but very moisturising. The smell is amazing. You shouldn’t hold them as they’re dissolving though...

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 04/01/2019 20:12

Wow, just had a look, theirs are expensive!!!

Everytimeref · 04/01/2019 20:15

Refuse to go in the shop and would ban the products at home but my DD and DH love the place!

PouchofDouglas · 04/01/2019 20:17

Op

Get a grip

2ducks2ducklings · 04/01/2019 20:17

@LtJudyHopps yep, I felt it was an error as I held it.
It smells lovely but I'm sure the lovely smell and moisturising properties could still have been achieved without it being so very blue!

I love their BIG shampoo. It's coarse sea salt and lemon oil etc. It's the only thing that sorts out my limp greasy looking hair. It make it shiny and healthy looking. It's only because it's so good that I brave the stinky shop!

RedrumMurder · 04/01/2019 20:21

Most of it is crap, but snow fairy is a wonderful smell and the melts are fab for my very dry, eczema prone skin. Horses for courses.

If any of the sellers on this thread make melty oil type ones, I’ll have a pm! Wink

MyKingdomforaNameChange · 04/01/2019 20:24

RedRum, I'm looking into making shower steamers at the moment, if it works out I will be making bath stuff too. Pm me if you want my contact details and if so, I will let you know if I start :)

arranbubonicplague · 04/01/2019 20:28

Whenever I get dragged into one of their shops it's instant headache-inducing nausea from the smell

I always used to cross the road to avoid walking past a Lush shop because the scent had such a bad effect. Since my sense of smell became negligible (head injury followed by sinusitis that triggered anosmia and from which I've never really recovered) I've now walked past several and only realised it when I started sneezing, my nose ran etc.

The odour of those shops is an environmental hazard. [grump]

Nyancat · 04/01/2019 20:28

One of their green bubble wand things stained the grout on my brand new bathroom green where one of the kids set it after a bath. No matter what I have tried can't shift the stain.

PeapodBurgundy · 04/01/2019 20:30

Love lush, but once had one with glitter in that got stuck in my pubes and itched so badly I decided to wax the whole lot off to get the glitter off my skin properly. Decided to be 'efficient' with time, and put the wax and strip on the opposite side while waiting the time for the first side to be ready to rip off; ripped off the first strip, decided it was too painful, and couldn't bring myself to rip the second strip off. Spent ages trying to melt the fecker back off with the hairdryer to no avail. Ran out of time, and had to go to work with a half attached wax strip on my muff. Finished my luckily short shift, and had to get into the bath again to try and soak the dratted thing off. Never again!! (I should probably add that I was 17 and fairly scatty at the time).

imnottoofussed · 04/01/2019 20:30

I do like a good bath bomb especially Lush but can't stand the glittery ones they basically coat the whole bath when I drain the water so I spend ages scrubbing it afterwards. Someone bought me a massive box of lush ones which I'm gradually getting through before I buy new non glittery ones.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 04/01/2019 20:32

Send them my way. I love lush bath bombs especially the glitter ones where the glitter just stays in the bath for several more baths (ok I don't wash the bath out). Love them. Especially The intergalactic one.

ManicUnicorn · 04/01/2019 20:33

They stain the bath, but Ive never had one stain me or bring me out in a rash.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 04/01/2019 20:33

I'm never stained either and have hypersensitive skin....do get a lovely glitter on my sling though

toomanysmallpeoplecallmemom · 04/01/2019 20:34

I posted almost the same thread a few days ago about bombs with petals in.... why would I want to bath in a pond?

ghostyslovesheets · 04/01/2019 20:36

I had a black on a couple of nights ago - turned the bath a bit grey but it made my skin feel amazing - never been turned blue by one!

90percentvodka10percenthuman · 04/01/2019 20:45

I love bath bombs although I don’t buy lush ones on principle. I got loads of the bomb cosmetic ones for Christmas but as we’re currently living with mil and her £5k bath I’m too terrified to use them

mrssmiling · 04/01/2019 20:46

Have had some redness and irritation after using Lush - not keen on the bath bombs! I prefer Verde’s bath salts...the gorgeous Peace Solution salts turn the water a beautiful green colour with no staining, and the essential oils are top quality. www.verde.co.uk/bath-range
Not cheap, but they do last...and no glitter. Smile
