Ok so I need to be more productive.

I think I should be doing more between this time but I do also want to start going to sleep by 9:30.

The children are normally asleep by 8pm if were lucky.

Then I sit and waste an hour before bed. Maybe pottering around tidying up the dinner plates and vacuuming the living room again if its needed (I also Vacuum at 5pm)
DH empties the bins if needed and puts the diahwasher on before bed.

Would you mind letting me know what you do so I can see whats reasonable to get done in this time? I feel I need to be doing alot more in this time and just need a MN Kick up the bum BlushGrin

I put my feet up.

Sunnysidegold · 03/01/2019 22:58

I usually tidy up from dinner and sweep kitchen floor.

Usually I will then watch tv or play a game with OH. Or read.

It would never cross my.mind to get the Hoover out. Especially if I'd already used it at 5pm!

EyeDrops · 03/01/2019 22:58

Read mumsnet and watch telly Blush

I always imagine I'll do something more interesting/productive but it very rarely happens!

Titsywoo · 03/01/2019 22:58

Nothing really. Watch tv usually.

Hisnamesblaine · 03/01/2019 22:59

Mumsnett and telly

Tanfastic · 03/01/2019 22:59

Same, feet up watching telly by this point. Maybe put a wash on or do packed lunches for next day.

NonaGrey · 03/01/2019 22:59

Why do you vacuum twice?

Just vacuum at 8pm.

I do housework and paperwork between 8pm and 10pm as O work full time.

BertrandRussell · 03/01/2019 22:59

Watch telly or read a book or chat to dp or Mumsnet. What do you think you should be doing?

IWantMyHatBack · 03/01/2019 23:00

🍷

Chasingsquirrels · 03/01/2019 23:00

Mostly I slob on the sofa watching tv, messaging my DP if we aren't seeing each other, reading or browsing online.
Wed nights I go to bridge club 7-9pm.
Some evenings I walk with a friend for about an hour, tonight was 9-10pm.

Repertory · 03/01/2019 23:00

Finish reading story for DS, go for a run, come home, shower, eat dinner with DH, read, shout at the BBC news, drink wine.

Whyislarryhappy · 03/01/2019 23:01

Honestly my DC at put yo bed at 8.30 - 9pm often I have to sit there for 20mins. (They are 1 and 3)
Then come downstairs to tidy up, wash dishes from dinner if I haven't already, then quick browse of social media then watch TV with mr

Kintan · 03/01/2019 23:01

Usually have a bath, and then hang out with my husband either watch something together, or I’ll read a book while he codes. Nothing much really. It’s good to have some down time and the chores can wait until the weekend!

arranbubonicplague · 03/01/2019 23:02

Exercise class/session either out or at home - this suits me but is probably not appropriate for someone wanting to be in bed by 21:30.

If DH isn't exercising then he potters about and listens to podcasts at the same time.

PersonaNonGarter · 03/01/2019 23:02

MN and Twitter. It’s crap - I could and should do a bit more.

I liked crochet when I did thatages ago. I could probably learn it again and listen to audio books.

Alienspaceship · 03/01/2019 23:03

Go to the gym.

SpiritedLondon · 03/01/2019 23:04

I’m still getting home from work sometimes so knocking up dinner and eating. Sorting out school bags. I then watch TV or have a bath and read a book. Why do you think you need to be productive in this time? Hoovering twice? Why? It sounds terribly tedious and I can’t imagine why you want to do more unless you spend all day watching Netflix.

EncroachingLoaf · 03/01/2019 23:04

Mostly I'm attached to a velcro baby but given the chance I sit on my arse with a glass of wine and the tv remote. Can't imagine vacuuming in the evening. I think downtime is important.

Doobee · 03/01/2019 23:07

Netflix and chocolate. Sometimes a few sit ups to make me feel better about the chocolate

Bloodybridget · 03/01/2019 23:08

If I'm at home alone or just with DP, watch tv, read a newspaper, play Words with Friends on my phone, Mumsnet, usually simultaneously. Phone/text/email friends. Nothing useful at all.

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 03/01/2019 23:09

Sometimes am out with one of my kids at their sport. If not, then I tend to make dinner for me and DH if he’s around, tidy and clean up, eg dishwasher, surfaces, washing on, hang up other washing, maybe if I’m feeling organised make my lunch for the next day if I’m working the next day. Then I might watch tv and/or browse online.

Raven88 · 03/01/2019 23:11

I do a quick tidy then I go to bed about half 8 I watch YouTube until I'm ready to sleep. DH is the same.

2dogsandPG · 03/01/2019 23:13

DH and I watch a film together usually. We have Sky so it's easy to find something we haven't seen before/something we're happy to watch again.

Youmadorwhat · 03/01/2019 23:13

I chill out for a bit with a cuppa..mumsnet, Facebook etc.
Sometimes have a bath or shower.
Sort some laundry, tidy up the main rooms, set out the DC’s uniform/clothes for the morning, make most of the packed lunches and pop them back in the fridge, get bowls and spoons out for breakfast,Make sure the coats and bags for school ready in the hall and set out my clothes for work (if it’s the eve before a workday) cup of tea and then bed

Redcrayonisthebest · 03/01/2019 23:13

Watch tv, mess with my phone, ironing, school work (planning etc) washing up, laundry...... bits and bobs of jobs basically, interspersed with relaxing.
