Love my Shark

mfpsamzy133 · 03/01/2019 14:18

@TheWernethWife Is the the steam one?

I think I'll get a steam mop and cancel my cleaner and save money in the long run?

Do you see yourself actually using it though, after a month or two when the novelty has worn off and you have to do all the cleaning, hoovering, wiping, tidying etc that your current cleaner does for you? Are all of his/her services replaceable by a steam mop?

TheWernethWife · 03/01/2019 14:29

Yes, the steam one with the bit you can take off and use as hand held. Had it over 5 years now, my daughter saw it in use and she bought one. Got mine on offer from Dunelm.

Confusedbeetle · 03/01/2019 14:32

I was very disappointed in a steam mop. Doesn't clean as well as washing the floor. The only advantage is it dries quickly

TheWernethWife · 03/01/2019 14:32

Wouldn't get rid of cleaner though.

Kethy · 03/01/2019 14:35

£99 good value if it does the mopping for you after pouring you a glass of wine

I don't know what this steam mop does exactly, but unless it is able to clean toilets, showers, baths, sinks, and it can vacuum, dust, polish, wipe surfaces, wash up, change beds, etc.,etc. I think you are kidding yourself Grin

As I say, I have no idea what it does that a normal mop doesn't, but £99 sounds a ridiculous amount of money to me, for a mop.

MereDintofPandiculation · 03/01/2019 14:42

There are apparently now robo-mops appearing. Something that cruises around the kitchen floor on a daily basis seems a higher priority to me than something that cruises around the living room - I wash the kitchen floor more frequently than I vacuum the carpets.

But the technology isn't that well developed - for example, the most popular one doesn't even return to its feeding station. I haven't yet been tempted by a steam mop, given that many of them aren't that good at leaving the floor dry. No point in cleaning if the next cat leaves footprints on the wet floor. So I stick to manual methods and at least get the floor dry afterwards.

SD1978 · 03/01/2019 14:45

Look up a Bissell- life changing!!!! It vacuums and mops at the same time!!!!!

BrokenLink · 03/01/2019 14:49

I just bought a Goblin steam mop for £26 in Asda and it cleans beautifully. Much easier to use than a mop and bucket.

turnipsaretheonlyveg · 03/01/2019 15:26

I have a shark steam mop, it does a good job but wouldn't replace a cleaner.

mfpsamzy133 · 03/01/2019 15:35

To be clear, the reason I would cancel the cleaner after getting a decent mop is the only thing I detest about cleaning is vacuuming and mopping. The rest is easy

Honestly I have had every type of steam mop there is and chucked them all, I now have one of those Vileda spray lips which is so much easier, no heavy weight or having to constantly plug and unplug around the house
I just fill uk the canister with water and cleaning solution and go, you can take off the mop head and throw it in the wash and chuck it back in the cupboard til next time.
