As title says sorry its late and I really need sleep. DD 7 has for around 20 mins on an off been twitching her feet, arms. I've notice this before but DP mentioned it an now I'm panicky. Apparantly kids and adults do this before sleep and sometimes during. She is very tired today, long day and lots of walking. However I had a sudden death in the family and my anxiety is up there. Please talk me down. she is fine now. I kept asking if she was ok (she was sleeping with us so easily noticable) she said she was fine.

I also noticed this once during her meditation. Laid on floor with blanket over her. I noticed little twitches again she nodding fine when I asked what was wrong. That doesn't sound like anything major right?

No I actually think it's quite normal for people to twitch. is she properly sleeping?

tinymeteor · 03/01/2019 03:08

Sounds like hypnic jerks. Little spasms as you fall asleep. Totally harmless.

LilQueenie · 03/01/2019 03:11

well I can be talking to her dad and suddenly she will answer me and I could swear she was sleeping so hard to say. sometimes I think she is a deep sleeper others a light one.

I thought hypnic jerks too but than did the stupid google thing. DP wanted me to phone nhs24 but he is a worrier and that fuels my anxiety.

I agree with the others, it's normal.

Try & get some sleep.

ElderMcKinley · 03/01/2019 03:12

DH has always done this as long as we've been sharing a bed (11 years!)

LilQueenie · 03/01/2019 03:14

Thank you. I'll try sleep an let her have a little lie in. We have another day out tomorrow pre-booked but not till the afternoon. Thank you everyone.

My daughter does this and has all her life been checked by doctor as for her it’s whole limbs and they confirm no issues. Doctor insisted on check because of long history of epilepsy

DaisyDreaming · 03/01/2019 03:22

My body does this when I deeply relax, especially if I’m very tired or done too much.
If your worried about seizures it’s unlike she would have a twitchy seizure when meditating and answer your question that she’s fine.

I hope you can get back to sleep xxx

Littlepond · 03/01/2019 03:44

My son aged 10 does this. I’ve shared a bed with him on holiday and he never stops moving!

explodingkitten · 03/01/2019 05:35

I do this when on the brink of falling asleep. It's involuntary and wakes my DH up. It's not uncomfortable. Occassionally the twitch is so strong that it wakes me up. Maybe that is why your daughter sometimes answers you?
