to want to punch the ‘confused’ mumsnet emoji in its stupid face

This one: Confused

90% of the time I see it here, it doesn’t indicate confusion but rather the shitty, superior attitude on the part of the person using it. ‘Oh I’m just so CONFUSED as to why you would do/buy/say that, instead of doing/buying/saying whatever I, as a superior sort of person, would do/buy/say instead!’

Hmm this face is similarly, but slightly less, infuriating.

I love Hmm as I often cock a quizzical eyebrow.

Confused can be interpreted as a by passive aggressive I think.

HolyMountain · 01/01/2019 19:07

ConfusedHmm

Love both of them.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2019 19:07

Smile can be passive aggressive.

HouseworkIsASin10 · 01/01/2019 19:16

I agree OP.
Gets on my tits.

Just explain to the poster why they are wrong/being a prick etc in your post, no need for the face.

fanofleetwoodmac · 01/01/2019 19:18

ShockHmm😇

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2019 19:41

Confused= I have no idea what you are talking about. Says it better.

CruCru · 01/01/2019 19:42

I hate all the emojis. People should be articulate enough to get their point across without using them.

SerenDippitty · 01/01/2019 19:43

🤷‍♀️ Is the one I find most infuriating.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2019 19:44

Do you think typing 'I have no idea what you are talking about it makes no sense at all' is worse than a confused face?

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2019 19:44

I like Confused & use the occasional Hmm

I agree with Sparkling that Smile can be passive aggressive in some contexts.

selepele · 01/01/2019 19:45

I love that face lol I hate this one Hmm

I just noticed the Xmas ones Xmas Biscuit[santa]Xmas Confused

huggybear · 01/01/2019 19:46

You're all saying X face and X face and they're the same face on my view... It's the same with the bloody bottle of gin

tilder · 01/01/2019 19:53

It's often code for 'I think you're a troll' or 'I think you're researching an article' or 'I call bullshit' or similar. Or used to be anyway, not sure on current MN etiquette.

2cats2many · 01/01/2019 19:58

This one Hmm is so passive aggressive. Can't stand it.

trojanpony · 01/01/2019 19:59

Confused and Hmm are my faves closely followed by Grin

huggybear · 01/01/2019 20:02

See @trojanpony I can't tell if you're taking the piss of not cos I just see the same face three times!

WhoAmIToDissABrie · 01/01/2019 20:04

Hmm this is my favourite. Especially as I can raise my left eyebrow in real life (don’t ya know).

JustBecauseYouAreUniqueDoesNot · 01/01/2019 20:05

I'm with you OP. I hate Confused so much.

It seems to be used to indicate that the poster thinks you're stupid but in a really passive aggressive way. Often while spectacularly missing the point themselves.

I hate it.

Hmm can be bad but not nearly as bad, and sometimes it adds genuine humour to a post.

However, I love Shock

Also find the "not envy" thing quite irritating in most circumstances. If you're talking about a toddler rolling in their own vomit (or whatever) no-one is going to think it's envy!
