To still be in bed on New Year’s Day

It’s just gone 1pm and I’m still in bed with a mild hangover. So much for all my plans to spend 1st January decluttering the house and driving to the garden centre to get some much-needed stuff for my house plants. I’m feeling a bit guilty to have gotten 2019 off to such a lazy and unproductive start. What is everyone else up to today?

You are welcome Dongdingdong Happy New Year!

@TakingtheLeap

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and also realising that I should be starting to get things ready for the baby! Considering we haven't bought a single item yet I think we need to get a move on especially as my husband thinks the baby will be 2 weeks early Grin.

With regards to New Year's Day we always go for lunch somewhere then spend the rest of the day on the sofa watching crappy TV. Best way I think!!

Oh really @Dongdingdong?????
How very bizarre!

Both still in pjs in bed listening to audio books/browsing the internet. I peaked too soon last night (haven't drunk for ages) and missed midnight!! Rather embarrassing but we were only at home.

My entire house is down with an awful cold virus thing. I had a shower and got dressed at about midday but promptly crawled back under a blanket. I've managed to pull dry things off the surer and dump them on my bed and that's it. I'm not moving from the sofa and a blanket now til its time to go to bed. Sad

I'm in Spain escaping the festive season. Watched the sunrise, went for a hike and then sat in the sun chatting to DH. But when you realise I am in my minging old tracksuit, can't be bothered to shower, and am living on yesterday's champagne and cake, it becomes clear this is simply the fine weather version of staying in bed. Which is what I'd be doing if at home, and OP I'd feel exactly the same kind of guilt, which is one reason I'm glad to be away. Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves at the bleakest time of year.

I’ve been up a few times for food and have had a shower.... but back in bed now watching Jungle Book! Restaurant booked for 6pm so need to get up and moving. I’m so ready to go back to work tomorrow! Happy 2019!

I’m not sure veganbrownie. I’m feeling immensely guilty at having wasted a day hungover when I could have been doing all sorts of productive things!

Dongdingdong Flowers Cake There are 364 days left, and no one ever said while dying 'I wish I'd cleaned the house more'.

So I don't sound like too much of a wanker, last year DH and I rolled in the door at 4am, then had to go and collect kids at 8.30 and spent the whole of NYD either in bed or in the couch groaning about our heads and suffering the consequences of a massive night.

This year I didn't drink, got up at 6.30am to do a quick 3 mile run and watch the sunrise, took the dog for a long walk and am now eating breakfast on my patio (boiling hot here).
I'm bloody glad I don't have a hangover as it's way too hot to contemplate leaving the house when you have a banging head (DH)!

Heading to the beach with some friends in a couple of hours to let the kids enjoy the day. I've been off for 2 weeks with the kids and I go back to work tomorrow and I can't wait!

I'm feeling far happier this NYD than I was last year!
