Happy new year everyone!

What are you doing today to start off the new year in a positive way?

Yesterday I made bread with my 3dc so we are going to toast that for breakfast. I plan on making my own bread on a regular basis if it tastes ok.

We are also going for a walk and a play in our local NT place to blow out the cobwebs.

This afternoon, when the oldest dc go to their dad's, I will make soup as it's the only thing we all love that contains lots of nutrients and vegetables. I'll freeze it for when they come back home.

I'm starting as I mean to go on and will be continuing the general clear out I started in the autumn.

2019 is going to be a healthier, less cluttered year Smile

Just checked my emails and I've got a happy new year one from Chip (I didn't have this when I posted before about it, honest!) - if anyone is going to sign up and they use this code: 0JCJMO we each get an extra 1% interest on the savings! So feel free to use Grin.

It scoops money out of your current account based on what it thinks you can afford to not miss. Mostly it's right, but I stopped it taking money out in December because I needed every penny! Very easy to set up and control, and most months I forget it's even doing it, which is good - no temptation then to stop it!

Parkrun at 11am today.
Free 5k timed run - although not expecting to beat any of my usual times today as a little fragile.

dontneedthedrama · 01/01/2019 10:37

Saving money too , no frivolous spending. I started about September as was fed up of running out of money and I'm happy that starting the year not skint .
I also put a couple of £ on my Asda Christmas savings card each week . I had £150 for Christmas this year which was great for some gifts and drink also food Grin . I'm going to do same this year .

constantlyseekinghappiness · 01/01/2019 12:22

My resolution for last year was to pay off my debts and stand saving.

I achieved it!

So for 2019 continuing with my saving and being more careful with money in general.

Also to walk more and eat better. I’m doing Dry January too to get me off to a good start.

dontneedthedrama · 01/01/2019 12:23

@DottyDotAgain I've been using chip for a few weeks , it's great definitely recommend.

Sarcelle · 01/01/2019 12:42

I have sorted all my (too many) nail polishes. Best/fave ones in fridge, the others in 2 boxes. Threw a lot of the aged ones away, set aside a few to give away. Logged them all on an app including make, name and colour and noted where they are. Anal but so satisfying to be organised! And I will not buy any more this year forever

Bought healthy stir fry and tuna steak for dinner.

IrisAnon · 01/01/2019 13:05

I'm giving an extra push this year to decluttering and simplifying life - particularly the house. Kitchen drawers, crockery, old toys, clothes etc....which I had started in the last few weeks and experienced how lovely it was. I have a tendency to keep things 'in case it is needed' and the thought of having paid money for something held me back from throwing/giving it away.

Similar with money. We spend far to much on little things without even thinking about it eg. magazines, food out, coffee, little toys here and there. Helps to cut down on the tat too. Mindful spending, if you like.

Life will be simpler and 'cleaner' in 2019

Acerbics · 01/01/2019 13:09

I have stood up for myself twice already today. Big steps for me.

TornFromTheInside · 01/01/2019 13:11

Playing guitar again.
I'm having an afternoon to myself, will restring a number of them, and start playing them again.

Eliza9917 · 01/01/2019 13:14

My resolutions start tomorrow. Today is for hangovers and therefore a takeaway.

I'm going to aim for 90% home cooked food.
I'm going to get back in the gym.
I'm going to be better at meeting up with friends.
I'm going to buy less and recycle more.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 01/01/2019 13:16

No added sugar in my diet

Active everyday

LESS PHONE which will be the hardest one for me

I love baking and cooking with the kids but need to make sure I do more savoury stuff as having cookies and cakes every week isn’t good 😄

Continue making bread instead of buying it

Continue making eco changes - next step is switching to Splosh cleaning products

AloneLonelyLoner · 01/01/2019 13:18

I’m planning on quitting booze, upping my exercise and leaving my husband. Not necessarily in that order.

Bottomplasters · 01/01/2019 13:24

What's nt walking?

Is it walking around national trust sites?

PerverseConverse · 01/01/2019 15:22

Eliza9917 yes it's national trust

OP posts:
Eliza9917 · 01/01/2019 15:52

Cool, ty. I thought national trust sites were just stately homes etc. I'll look them up and see what we've got nearby if they have walking routes.

Nicpem1982 · 01/01/2019 16:20

@Eliza9917 - weve just been on a nt walk, we never get into the Statley homes just enjoy the grounds and walks. If you have a few near your home its a good membership to have, the gardens are beautiful and i love the walled kitchen gardens theyre so interesting

PerverseConverse · 01/01/2019 16:23

Quite a few picnics happening at our local NT place today and they were queuing to get in off the main road. I like to go in the house gardens as well as the play area and woodland. Depends on my mood as to which bit I go to.

Tidied various neglected parts of house - an early spring clean
Went to gym / but it was shut, hey ho, the intention was there
Had my first coffee with NO sugar - NY resolution now in play
Finally, cooked a roast chicken with lots of extra veg, now leftovers all wrapped up in fridge for soup making tomorrow.
