Whilst toothbrush / paste admittedly aren't the biggest things ever ...... do remember that anything bought airside still needs to fit in your bag, particularly if it's an airline who actively confirm at boarding that your hand baggage fits their size guide.

Is there nothing more suitable in the house? A backpack within dimensions, or a small nylon holdall? Ask friends if you can borrow something rather than buy something that may not be suitable and won't last?

The one undermajor has linked to is the sort of thing I would take if I REALLY didn't want to take a case.

I've also used those lightweight folding barrel bags too.

Ive found anything from Boohoo to be terrible quality, if you put anything heavy in the bag it would probably snap

This bag is really solid, and I love the rugged look. Not for everyone though

Eastpak are decent quality long lasting bags and plain black is only £15, ive had a black one years i paid much more for and it still looks new

We have a couple of www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002Q5APX4/ref=twister_B014WJ20W0?psc=1these&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforum-21 Cabin Max bags.

I have used mine many times and have had it four or five years, you can get loads in it (including your handbag) I can get a week's worth of stuff in no trouble, and it has separate sections so you can easily get to your passport etc.

I dont want a big holdall type as we fly into amsterdam for 9am local time so wint be checking in until 2pm and we fly back home about 4pm. I dont want to be lugging around either a suitcase or big bag. Ive got a lovely avon holdall if the stuff wont fit. Although ive not took it on a plane, I have been away a few times last year and always took it and its a pain in the arse to carry around.

Oh I dont really use BOOHOO either but the sale sucked me in....uh oh.

Its been dispatched and am going to attempt to put some bits in and take photos for an update Grin am convinced it will fit DH might be putting some of my shite in his bag

Heres the Avon one

The Avon bag looks the right sort of size for a couple of days. It’s a shame it doesn’t have a shoulder strap as I’m sure that would make it a lot easier to carry about. When you get to Amsterdam why can’t you drop your bags at the hotel when you arrive and then go out until check in?
I’ve arrived a few hours before check in time at a fair few places and on every single occasion we were able to drop off our bags in a luggage room and then come back later to collect them and check in.
We just go to the desk and ask if there’s somewhere to leave bags until check in. I’ve never had a place say no. A hotel that wouldn’t store your luggage would be fairly unusual.

HildaZelda · 01/01/2019 23:37

God no. That's a handbag! For goodness sake take a proper carry on case. What if you buy anything, where on earth would you put it?

CrispbuttyNo1 · 01/01/2019 23:40

Just get a rucksack .
