To go to bed at 8pm and forget new year

moanymoaner · 31/12/2018 05:45

Aibu? Been awake all night with dog and child. Got family over till tomorrow but I have no chance of staying awake tonight . Would it be bad to just nip off to bed at 8pm and not bother seeing the new year in 😴😴😴

I’m in the first trimester with a toddler who has suddenly decided to get up much earlier. I will be in bed by 9.

NYE is always a bit of a let down anyway.

Nakedavenger74 · 31/12/2018 08:59

It's exactly 10pm here in NZ right now. You all have my permission to go to bed in 2 hours and 1 minute. Grin

Nakedavenger74 · 31/12/2018 09:01

We are the first to see the NY after all. If you make it past 11am UK time you've done NY!

Dahlietta · 31/12/2018 09:04

I do this every year now! The fireworks do usually wake me up, but I don’t mind that, just mutter ‘happy new year’ to DH, go back to sleep.

rebeccamarlowe · 31/12/2018 11:45

If you've been up all night or not, I'd still get to bed at a normal time. I struggle to stay awake each year to see the old year out and the new one in, especially with two little ones now. Last year, I set an alarm for 23:50 to be awake to wish DH a happy new year and then went back to bed at 00:02 😂 I felt much better for it either way.

Whatever you decide, have a happy 2019 😊

teacakes44 · 31/12/2018 16:31

Knockknockknock
EXACTLY THE SAME HERE!

bluebellsparklypants · 31/12/2018 19:12

Do it and enjoy your sleep

recklessruby · 31/12/2018 21:07

I m staying up till 12 but in tonight. Dd is on a sleep in at work and ds has work at 10 tomorrow Sad. Nobody else I want to celebrate with so instead I m cuddling my cat and planning an epic night out for my birthday at the end of January Smile

dementedma · 31/12/2018 21:08

am in bed now and perfectly happy. warm, cosy and got a good book. 2018 can fuck off.

Squatternutbosh123 · 31/12/2018 21:14

I've just got into bed, it's just another day and this is my usual bedtime. Means DP gets to watch what he wants on telly too without my constant interruptions...win win

RayRayBidet · 31/12/2018 21:17

I'm in bed now. Full of a stinking cold been awake since 5.30.

BlueEyedBengal · 31/12/2018 21:26

Happy New year everyone and may it be a great one for everyone. Going to bed when I have loaded the dish washer.

moanymoaner · 31/12/2018 21:28

Well I'm still awake! Sister wants us to wait for midnight so I'm just going to put my smallest ds to bed and have a little nap then I'll come back down!
I'm now dreading tonight because the dog is being an arse still!

Just sitting with DS2 and will then head to bed with DH. I was awake at 5.30 to do 3 hours work before we had a lovely, long, day with friends. Tired now but I think DH has ideas about bed that are not to do with sleeping! Wink

TheVoiceOfRaisin · 31/12/2018 21:38

I don't think I can be arsed this year tbh.

Agreed to do a double pay overtime shift starting at 3am this morning as was getting a bit bored and reasoned I could have an afternoon nap early afternoon.

But then couldn't get to sleep until midnight last night (alarm set for 1:30am) and then my bloody truck broke down in the last hour of my shift just as I was heading back. Took six hours to be recovered and turned into a 15 hour shift! Quite happy to sleep my way into 2019!

PerverseConverse · 31/12/2018 21:46

I don't do new year. It's never interested me at all. So no, yanbu!

PorpentinaScamander · 31/12/2018 21:49

Do it. I'm tempted to go to bed now. I've just got home from a 15 hour shift. Doing the same tomorrow.
DP and DC were meant to be tidying and getting party nibbles ready for when I got home.
They've done less than half the cleaning. No nibbles. DC are on their room. DP is online gaming with his mate. I've come straight upstairs and no one has even asked how my day was Sad

Sorry. Wallowing in my own misery here.

danni0509 · 31/12/2018 21:54

@PorpentinaScamander how was your day? Thanks

KonaMum · 31/12/2018 21:55

I’ve been trying to get DS to sleep since 6.45. On his defence he did go to sleep like an angel at about 7.30 but has woken at least half hourly since. I would LOVE to be asleep right now as he slept appallingly last night too.

KonaMum · 31/12/2018 21:56

*In his defence!

PorpentinaScamander · 31/12/2018 21:58

@danni0509 it was ok, thanks for asking Grin I hope yours was too. Flowers

PerverseConverse · 31/12/2018 22:35

Going to bed very soon with my ear plugs and painkillers (chronic pain, not taking them fur fun) so I hopefully sleep through the fireworks and the idiot next door coming in pissed at whatever ungodly hour he chooses to bounce off the walls and groan the night away. My children will be bouncing off the walls from the crack of dawn so he'll get his just desserts Grin
Have a peaceful night everyone.

PumpkinPie2016 · 31/12/2018 22:59

YANBU - I have just got in bed and will be asleep before 12. Watched a film with DH and didn't even have a drink so I'm stone cold sober Grin

I've never liked NYE for some reason and I am looking forward to waking up tomorrow having slept well and with no hangover!

toomuchtooold · 01/01/2019 08:45

@olddognewtricks2019 I saw your post yesterday - I hope your dad got some good news Flowers

cariadlet · 01/01/2019 08:53

I went to bed at 8 last night (NYE).

We got back from a short break yesterday morning, the first flight had been at 3 in the morning local time and we were totally knackered. DP hadn't even managed to make it until 8. Our teenage dd had managed to sleep on the planes and was very disgusted with us for not staying up to see the New Year in with us.
