I suffer with depression, today is a really bad day, I feel truly awful.
Please send anything my way that might help, open to support, jokes, tips and tricks, cute cat photos and anything that might help me clean this shit tip I call home.

Senior - no they're not going to cure the OP but if it gets her from the end of one minute to the start of the next, more power to her.

OP, sometimes its not one day at a time but one breath at a time, isn't it? Just keep going, its a shit illness but each second you're still here, doing your stuff is a victory over the bastard thing and very much something to be proud of. Crack on lady, you've got this x

Don't do a big tidy, just put away 2 things at a time, have a wee potter about then an other 2 and an other 2 and shortly it'll look a lot better and you'll only feel like you put 2 things away.

Can't send pictures of my cats, as they're upstairs with DD1, who's also suffering with depression (and finds lying in bed under a pile of cats a reasonable way of coping with the long dark winter teatime of the soul). So instead, this "joke" from DD2, from when she was in nursery and just getting the structure of jokes, but hadn't quite figured out what makes them funny - it may not be funny to anyone but me!

paint I’ve spoken to my gp but he won’t increase my medication or refer for any other help as my life is difficult at the moment which is adding to the depression apparently.

You’re all brilliant. Thank you for understanding, this is helping me get through to my sons bedtime and then I’ll watch Netflix or something until I fall asleep and hopefully wake up feeling a bit better.

Love Miranda, my mum and I are very similar to Miranda and her mum so I’ll send that on for her to enjoy too!

Have you managed to have a shower today op?

When I was ill last year this was a huge goal for me. Sometimes I managed, sometimes I didn't. On the days I managed I felt a huge achievement and it made me feel a bit better for a few hours. Eventually I realised I was managing more days than not. And that was a glimmer of hope.

I also found that I would spiral into neglecting myself as I figured I'd failed at any goals that day so I didn't deserve anything good. Things like, I'd somehow manage to pull together half decent food for DC but I would then eat frozen pizza instead of same as DC. Things like putting on worn PJs if I hadn't managed a shower, even though I'd have felt better in clean PJs rather than feel like I had to punish myself.

It was MN that first got me to the GP and saw me through some bad days. The support I got on here was truly incredible. So you've already made one big positive action today and that's posting on here. Whenever you need that support, let us know. I was brought to tears by the care and support of strangers on the internet. My real life friends and family would be astounded to know that's how I got through it.

Don't let the time of year get to you too much. It's all nonsense, new year etc. Just the earth continuing to go round the sun as it has done for millennia and will continue to do so. It's only new year in certain cultures too, so in many places it's just another day. No significance. Flowers
