To take Christmas stuff to the charity shop at this time of year?

Very dull I know but just something I was wondering.

I'm planning to have a good clear out of all my Christmas stuff before I pack it away and was going to take what I don't want to the charity shop. Had a pang off guilt though that it's not that helpful to give them out of season stuff. They'll be ok to store it won't they. I really don't want to just throw stuff out and can't face storing it all and remembering to get it all out in November.

They can't store stuff and they will just have to throw it out. Sort it when you are next decorating the house and give it to them then.

We keep it at our charity shop. We have plastic crates stacked all over the back shop (including in the staff loo) filled with Christmas stuff.

Ask before you donate it.

They likely won't have to room to store it unfortunately.

Fantasisa · 30/12/2018 14:10

Can you offer it for free on your local FB page?

I had a sort out mid September and went to donate , they said it was too early so I left it in a bag on my garden gate saying "Xmas decorations free help yourself " they went within an hour .
Ok so whilst it's not giving to " charity " it's still giving to a worthy person who probably can't afford it normally and stopping it going to land fill.

Keep it until November then donate otherwise it will likely be thrown away.

Ask at the shop your thinking of before taking it in our shop is lucky we have a lot of storage areas upstairs so anyone bringing in christmas decorations we put them in crates for next christmas but one of our other shops is tiny so they wouldnt have the storage

EBay. I bought a load of cheap Halloween stuff after the event. You can always buy a goat or donate the profit to a charity.

I’ve just passed on a lot today through my local Facebook sites - I figured the charity shops wouldn’t be able to store it

Thanks all - I've only got one small bagful so far so will pop in with that and check before taking any more. I realise I could probably have worked that out myself without MN Blush

Nothing embarrassing about checking!
