I'm on the mini pill (desogestrel - crescent brand) - so far so good, helped with my pmt and i'm less of an emotional mess now i'm on it. It's helped with my IBS symptoms. Though my skin and hair is definitely more oily.

Have you suffered any side effects on yours? If you've switched from one method to another, which did you switch to and why did you switch?

I bled for about 8 weeks with the mittens and then had ten blissful period-free years with it. It has been the only contraception that has worked (even a subsequent sterilisation failed). I don’t metabolise the pill and condoms failed once. I suffer from hyper fertility and was getting pregnant all the fucking time (literally, see what I did there? 😊), but nothing with the Mirena. For me the Mirena was a gift from the gods! Yay!

I wish I could edit. Mittens sounds freaking hilarious. Mirena!!!!!

Love mittens as a form of contraception 🤣

Would they be vagina or penis mittens I wonder...maybe I could wear them in my hands and pray!

I had the implant for a decade which was awesome as I had barely any periods, but I felt like it flattened my libido somewhat so now I've finished having kids, DH has had the snip and even with the hassle of periods, I'm much preferring being free of hormonal interference. So vasectomy wins!

I loved the patch before we started TTC. Only having to remember it once a week rather than everyday like the pill made it a lot easier for me! Currently pregnant and not really thought about what to do after baby comes as my periods never returned to ‘normal’ after coming off but think that would probably be the same with any hormone based contraception.

Also as you asked, implant didn't hurt as your arm gets numbed for insertion/replacement, and there's v little residual pain after, whereas I've heard so many horror stories about coil agony I never dared try it.

Implant, you get a local so it just feels a bit weird. Also very light periods and my migraines are much better.
