To worry this could be a frozen shoulder

Posting for traffic and because I would feel a fraud on the cancer side. I had surgery to remove pre cancerous cells in my left breast in October, it went so well that the treatment finished three weeks ago. But my shoulders and arms ache, my right arm in particular feels tight just below my shoulder . I had a frozen shoulder 10 years ago and it started like this months before it siezed up. Has anyone else had this after breast surgery? Also should I try physio or sports massage to tackle it?

Frozen shoulder is agony rather than an ache. Go to the docs. It's probably related to the treatment.

Nobody can diagnose on mumsnet. Sounds like it could just be general tension though.

Try some stretches and exercises, maybe yoga. There are loads of videos in YouTube. Don't overdo it though, with stretches you want to feel the stretch but not feel pain.

One simple one is to circle your shoulders, as one is going up and back the other going down and forward, and then change so that when one is going up and forward the order is going down and back.

Thanks for the video, I’m going back to Pilates in February which will help.

If its general tension, massage could help, but make sure it's a good massage therapist. What works best for me is no hands massage (not as odd as it sounds, they just use forearms rather than hands), but good remedial or sports or deep tissue therapist would also be good.

Physio will be great if there is some underlying issue, but they often just give exercises to do. If you usually do pilates, and find that helps your shoulders, you could look for pilates videos on YouTube. I don't know much about pilates so can't point you in the right direction. Yoga with adriene is great, and she does short focused routines, so you might find similar if you search 'pilates shoulders'.
