I am supposedly going to Thailand with DS for 5 weeks in July / August, with DH joining us for the last 2ish weeks.
I have been saving like mad and have almost enough for two of the three business class flights already, and have booked accommodation. I know where we are going to reasonably well and it has been cheap enough to live there (cheaper than the UK for sure!)
We had our first family long haul in the summer, Florida, and it was wonderful and also our first proper holiday in a very long time - hence my frenzied savings now so we can have a similarly fabulous holiday this summer.
I choose Thailand as I know it reasonably well. It's easy enough with DS, but also it's relatively cheap, we can get somewhere fabulous for a fraction of the price we'd pay in other countries etc. We also now have some friends who are keen to come and join us for chunks of the time we are there.
DH is a lot more cautious than me and suddenly said today that we should 'wait and see what happens with Brexit, and possibly go to Scotland.' As I have been so focussed on our big trip, and don't fancy paying the often very high prices for a villa or similar in Spain for two weeks I am a bit crushed.
We can, with budgeting and saving, afford it. At least how things stand at the moment. He thinks we should simply save but not go anywhere, or somewhere for a week tops in the UK. His job is secure, as is mine. I think that life is for living and we should just go for it!
AIBU....?
