SHARED BUS SERVICE FROM CHESHIRE TO MANCHESTER SCHOOLS

Hi All

A friend directed me tot his site to ask the question.. I have seen a lovely house in Northwich Cheshire but my son is in his 3rd year of secondary school in a Co ed school in Manchester. Are there any other parents in this situation that know of a pooled school bus service into Manchester?
I would be grateful for any useful responses

Don't know about bus services from Manchester, but you can catch a train to Manchester from both Greenback and Northwich stations. Hartford station may have some indirect trains.

Is there a particular reason to move to Northwich? I grew up there (well a small village within it), so know the area very well, and can't think of an obvious compelling reason to move there! Don't get me wrong, it's pleasant enough, but not somewhere I'd purposely move to if I didn't have a great reason.

I looked on the timetable and it takes a very long time to get into Manchester from the train station

It just seems so quiet and peaceful. I’m s single mum and just looking for somewhere for me now . It’s my time and I think I would like this semi rural place and I feel in love with a house which I just cannot find in Manchester

I presume St Bedes. None of the school buses go anywhere close to Northwich, Altrincham seems about the closest and that’s still a pretty long drive. You could ask the school if they know of any other services but it will be a long journey for your son every day. Realistically you will need to change school or chose somewhere to live that is on a school bus route (or other public transport). Have you looked around Wilmslow? Or Alderley Edge for something slightly more rural but still on the school bus route.

It is peaceful place, not a lot goes on there! Lots has/is being spent on redeveloping the town centre, so it's looking much better than it did a few years ago.

I think if you wanted to move there, you would need to move schools, as the commute would be too long. Most of the high schools are generally good around there. And there is an excellent college in Leftwich called Sir John Deane's.

I kind of know already that the commute would be too much so was just exploring should their have been anything I overlooked. The school bus coms as far as Altrincham/Bowden.

I work in Knutsford so not bad for me.

Do you know much about the schools, I imagine that there are not many mixed ethnicity schools around there which an important enrichment which I was adamant I wanted to my child to develop in … however you may pleasingly surprise me .

Many thanks by the way :)
