Is it for you or for a child? It’ll depend on height and age, so what’s good for one person might not be for another.

Curious8910 · 29/12/2018 14:02

Adult , Thanks Age 40 5foot 3

You really shouldnt be asking that here, ask a health professional

Fletchasaurus · 29/12/2018 14:03

Mine is 500. But please do not take this as normal, it is very different for all asthmatics and this may be very different for you!! Talk to your asthma nurse or ask the go!

Fletchasaurus · 29/12/2018 14:03

Sorry, 500 is my best when I am healthy!

IHaveBrilloHair · 29/12/2018 14:04

Rarely over 120 but I'm a brittle asthmatic.

LizTaylorsFabulousTurban · 29/12/2018 14:09

Mine is roughly 420 but fluctuates. Your normal will be someone else's best day, and might be someone else's trigger on their asthma plan to seek medical attention.

Have you attended an asthma clinic at your doctor's? I've had asthma for 35 years but still go every six months. Your practice nurse should set you up with an asthma plan which records your normal PF, when to see your GP (or nurse practitioner), and at which point you need to seek urgent help.

Have a look at The National Asthma Campaign website for some useful stuff re management.

You really need to get it calculated properly by a professional, and even then, bear in mind it's only a guesstimate. My calculated peak flow was an underestimate by about 20% of what is actually normal for me, which is quite a lot!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 29/12/2018 14:12

Actually, forget that chart. It might be using the wrong scale depending on what peak flow meter you have.

Cheerbear23 · 29/12/2018 14:12

It will vary per person. You need to know what your ‘normal’ is, and what your red flags are, and what to do about them in line with your management plan.

Thanks - mine seems low- going to discuss with gp .....
