To think hair extensions won’t damage my hair...

More of a wwyd I guess -

My hair is currently shoulder length-ish but thinner around the back due to breakage from bleaching a couple of months ago (which has since been dyed back to a dark brown)

I hate it at the back and so I’m considering the nano or micro ring hair extensions to thicken it out and add length- anyone have any experience of them? AIBU to think this would help disguise my think hair and give it a chance to grow long enough that I can have it cut to one length eventually?

Seen lots of lovely pictures online but also read something horror stories about how your natural hair ends up worse than before and you basically have to have them forever or put up with thinner hair / bald patches if you have them removed Confused
Other option I guess is to get some clip in ones and just use them when I’m out - in which case can anyone recommend some?

Thanks
(Sorry that was long Blush )

I paid £495 for micro ring extensions. My hair ended up matted at the roots no matter how much care I took. I always take care of my hair as it's always been in such good condition, I've been blonde/grey once and now back to my natural colour as I hated the thought of having to bleach it every few months.
I use real hair clip in extensions now, only for nights out and occasions. I love them.

It must feel odd to have a wire halo siting in your head.

sitting on

@katekat383 it's hard to understand how it works until you see it. I brought it to a hairdresser the other day to have it curled and put in my hair and she was stumped. She couldn't believe how it works. You cannot feel it as it sits across the crown of your head and is held in place by your own hair. She asked for the woman's details so that she could order one for herself.

I have the rapture extensions and they are amazing. I have tried every type and these are by far the best and honestly no damage to my own hair.

They cost £350 new but can be taken out and put back in every 12 weeks and last for over a year.

Thanks for all your replies!
I’ve been weighing up the pros cons and cost of each suggestion and I’ve decided to give up on the idea - my hair has already got breakage to my neck and I don’t want to make it worse by bonding clipping or gluing anything else to it. I’ve also looked at the halo and the wig suggestion but I don’t think my hair would blend very well unless I straightened it - which will probably cause more damage.
Instead I’ve booked an appointment at the hairdressers to have it all cut into a bob just below the chin, this should even it all out and make it look healthier. Hopefully it’ll look ok - haven’t had my hair that short for years so it’s quite scary! Worst case scenario it’ll grow back ....
Thanks again Smile

I had extensions for 4 and a half months and I wouldn't say they made my bleach damaged hair worse, except when I would get some of them really tangled up because I was bad at taking care of them. After that I had my hair cut short and bleached it again, but this time I knew what I was doing with the bleach and dyed back to my natural hair colour after about 6 months and have used either vegetable dyes or nothing since then. Now 18 months later the ends are a little dry and lighter but overall it's growing back thicker than its been in years, so I think cutting it will help so much!

Use real hair clipping extensions, you can get them on e-bay or Amazon. Buy them blonde and dye them the same colour as your hair. They look amazing and won't damage your hair.
