Best, most robust, iPhone charger?

TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter · 27/12/2018 15:14

iPhone chargers themselves (that the iPhone/pad/pod come with) are fine for a couple of years. But after that, any charger we buy are shite.

We have bought genuine Apple chargers from the store and they were shite. Lasted a couple of weeks.

I've tried Belkin, about 15 of them. They all just stop working after a couple of months.

I've tried Native Union, they worked really well for a year. Now the two I have recently got for the front room have lasted a couple of months.

It would be easy to blame my kids but I'm really careful with chargers and I have the same problem with all of mine.

Now we have charged issues again and need to replace them. But what make?!

I know, I know don't buy Apple.

Anker are the best reasonably priced ones I've found. Alternatively just go to pound land and accept you have to replace it every few weeks.

Ollivander84 · 27/12/2018 15:55

Syncwire ones have been good for me and there's a guarantee on them

HardAsSnails · 27/12/2018 16:05

Anker here.

TruckLoadOfSubtleGlitter · 27/12/2018 16:08

Syncwire I ordered this morning, so I'm
hoping they are good.

I'm going to order Anker next then.

I use the amazon ones and they're half the price and last as long as official chargers. You can also get super long ones which can be handy

mywigwamneedsnewflaps · 27/12/2018 16:57

I use ( for iPad and I phones ) an Ikea charger ( 3 plug in places @£7 ) and juice leads ( Sainsbury's amongst others ) the leads can be pricy @ £16-18 each but I get the long ones as I can use the iPad whilst charging and not be tied to a wall socket

LittleG69 · 27/12/2018 17:01

Anker al the way. I have a lot of Anker electrical bits and they’re pretty good

JuniperBeer · 27/12/2018 17:04

We use braided chargers. Or the ones that are like flat tape. Cost about £10 each. Never had issues with good braided ones, what is it you’re doing to them?! 😂

Sugru is good for chargers that are just starting to split. Especially Mac book chargers which are about £80!!

HarryDresdensLeatherDuster · 27/12/2018 17:32

Betron braided are the best I have ever bought!

Toomanycats99 · 27/12/2018 17:34

I got a good Panasonic braided one in Asda.

PlatypusPie · 27/12/2018 17:38

I’ve got an extra long, braided Native Union one that is still going strong after 5 years.

macblank · 27/12/2018 17:40

Anker make the best wall chargers and cables.

Whether you want a wireless charger (pad or stand), a desktop charger (multiple outputs from one lead), or a tough wall charger made for travel, or fast charger (tbh most are fast chargers).

Highly recommend ANKER.COM ((also on amazon), just search the name))

Nomorechickens · 27/12/2018 17:41

According to reviews on Amazon, the latest Anker chargers are lower quality than previously

Steamedbadger · 27/12/2018 17:49

I tried Juice mains chargers and they broke almost immediately, although the actual cables were OK. Braided cables seem to work best for not fraying, but I also find Apple cables fine as long as you don't bend them near the plug end. For portable chargers Anker are great, I haven't tried their cables.

DoraJar · 27/12/2018 17:54

Following a recommendation on MN I bought one from Tiger - good call as has lasted. Doesn’t have a long lead but think it was £5 and a nice colour!

InternetRandomer · 27/12/2018 18:14

The charger is the plug bit that goes in the socket. Not the cable. That’s just a cable.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 27/12/2018 18:17

I bought some of that putty stuff that sets hard, moulded a bit round the wire connection and no chance of fraying, worth it as charger is still going strong.

Yohooo · 27/12/2018 18:21

Juice wires and anker batteries.

Juice come with a warranty. John Lewis used to offer a two year warranty which was stupid of them. 😅. It's now down to a year I think. Still good though.

macblank · 27/12/2018 18:34

Not that I've noticed. The pd2/USBC charger is fantastic and solidly built.... That's my charger.

macblank · 27/12/2018 18:37

All Anker products co e with 18 month guarantee, and lifetime email support... As anker says.... 20 million customers can't be wrong?

BikeRunSki · 27/12/2018 18:38

Anker from Amazon

nicoala1 · 27/12/2018 18:58

I bought several dual chargers for kindle and ipad/phone. Cost a quid each in Poundland. That was about three years ago. Still going strong!

But if you want something posh, there is a product on Amazon that is actually brilliant. It is a multi country charger that has UK, European and US plugs on it plus four fast charging ports. Brilliant thing it is. Syncwire I think it's called. It's upstairs with the holiday stuff so I ain't going there to find it right now!

Yep, here it is...

chipsandpeas · 27/12/2018 19:08

the braided ones from primark have worked great for me outwith genuine apple ones

macblank · 27/12/2018 20:20

macblank · 27/12/2018 20:22

Have to agree there.

I recently purchased a 4"/6" USBC charger lead and with my pocket powerbank, it does fast charge on my galaxy S8

Lead.... £2.50
